It was Ann Curry‘s last day on the Today Show after 15 years of couch time. It was a tearful goodbye as Curry gave a speech that had her fellow team members consoling her.
Curry’s lawyer was able to negotiate an exit from the show that would be fair to Curry in some way or form, but it didn’t stop Curry from sobbing. She told viewers, “I’m sorry I couldn’t carry the ball over the finish line, but man did I try.”
In an interview with USA Today, Ann said, “In every single co-host’s first year, there have been kinks to be worked out, and perhaps I deserve as much blame for that as anyone.”
And despite declining ratings, Curry was told that she was not the sole reason for the ratings tanking. Curry says, “I know I am not to blame for the ratings worries … and my bosses have said to me there are many factors involved.”
But Curry isn’t completely leaving NBC. From her speech we know that she will be producing pieces for different areas of the news show including the Today Show, Nightline, etc.
