Remember when Hollywood used to come up with completely original ideas, turn them into television shows or feature films and we would be thrilled, inspired, and ready for the next season or sequel?
Me either.
And because Hollywood no longer seems able to come up with a completely original idea anymore, they’ve gone back into the vaults and concocted a new take on Psycho. A&E’s upcoming series Bates Motel is being described as a prequel to the Alfred Hitchcock classic Psycho. Freddie Highmore, who starred alongside Johnny Depp in Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, is set to star in the series as a young Norman Bates. Playing opposite Highmore will be Vera Farmiga as Norman’s mother. The show will further delve into the dark and twisted relationship between Norman and his mother. The series will be the first American project for Freddie Highmore, who was also the star of The Spiderwick Chronicles.
This may not be a completely original idea, but this could potentially be an interesting re-telling of the story. Everyone knows Norman Bates was seriously throwed off in the game and I can’t wait until they have Freddie in drag and stealing his mama’s pantyhose. If that’s not in at least a few episodes, I will not be sold!
