See, when they said “just being nominated is an honor”, they were damn right. Yesterday a plethora of hungry Oscar nominees attended the 2009 Oscar Nominees Luncheon at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
It is an event where all nominees can enjoy a free meal, bask in their hopefulness and give each other “I-am-better-than-you” stares. Ummm, awkward.
Another fabulous part of the luncheon is when all attendees get to stand in front of Oscar and smile a little smile for the cameras. Now while they may not be the winner of the Oscar, it is sort of a teaser like, “here’s what you could win, if you are selected as the winner”. And if you lose on Oscar night, at least you have that photo that you can forever keep in your presence to look at when you are feeling down and out…because hey, at least you were nominated.
Attendees of the luncheon included: Amy Adams, Anne Hathaway, Danny Elfman, David Fincher, Josh Brolin, Kate Winslet, Maris Tomei, Melissa Leo, Mickey Rourke, Penelope Cruz, Richard Jenkins, Ron Howard, Sean Penn, Tarji P. Henson, Viola Davis and Robert Downey Jr.
Please note: Angelina and Brad did not attend because quite frankly they had a guido-stache to shape.
