It was a joyous weekend for Beyonce and hubby Jay-Z as they welcomed their baby girl Blue Ivy Carter on Sunday at the Lenox Hill Hospital. But it was hell for everyone else in the baby ward. Neil Coulon, a guy from Brooklyn whose wife gave birth to twins said that Jay and Bey’s arrival was more like a night club with VIP’s and velvet rope to boot than a quiet congratulatory family event.
Coulon is so fumed that Jay and Bey took over the sixth floor because he had problems getting to see his twins who are currently residing on the six floor in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).
He told the NY Daily News, “Three times they stopped me from entering or exiting the NICU (Neo-natal Intensive Care Unit) and it happened once on Friday — just because they wanted to use the hallway. They should have been more strategic about it,” he said. “These are children with problems in intensive care and you’re just going to take over the hospital like you own it? All I want is an apology.”
But get this, Bey and Jay basically could have done what they wanted because they reported paid $1.3 million to seal off a wing AND decorate it.
A staffer from the hospital told the newspaper, “Some people were upset. I heard a gentleman say he couldn’t go upstairs to see his baby (Saturday).”
Coulon went on to add, “I know they spent $1.3 million and I’m just a contractor from Bed-Stuy, but the treatment we received was not okay. My wife is just terribly upset. She had a C-section. She gave birth to twins. She is sore. Nobody needs this. This is the NICU. Nobody cares if you’re a celebrity. Nobody is star-gazing. They just want to see their children. To have that circus roll into town and ruin our parade was unpleasant.”
