Beyonce & Child: A Commentary on the Madness

Now that Blue Ivy/Ivy Blue has had about a week on this earth and the press has died down a bit, I can now reflect on the last few months that we (ie: the world) has known that Beyonce is with child.

For those of you wondering, let me break it down.

This pregnancy, from the moment it was announced until the moment she popped it out, has been marketed to the hilt!

First, Beyonce pops up in maternity couture for MTV, proudly displaying her bump (or prosthetic piece, for the conspiracy theorists) to the paparazzi. News agencies do backflips, CNN drops everything important, and Twitter explodes with traffic.

And that was just day one.

Immediately, the due date was the next big get for news agencies. No one even knew how many months along Beyonce was. Was she carrying an Illuminati child? Was it a girl or a boy? Celebrity twins again? J.Lo was all set to call Beyonce a copycat!

The world wanted to know.

And Beyonce knew we wanted to know, so she did what any pop star diva must do to retain diva status.

She went into hiding.

Now how often does Beyonce do that? Haven’t we gotten used to her lace-front popping up on our televisions, magazine covers, and sometimes our movie screens twelve months of the year?

Right.

But suddenly, Beyonce had a case of the shy-shy and ran away.

Fast forward to now and the golden child has been spit out, her name has been the subject of curiosity like no other, and apparently she already has a single out.

Right now, I know what you’re thinking…
