Funny man George Carlin is going to finally get the honor he deserves. The late comedian who was famous for those “Seven Words You Can Never Say on TV” - will be honored Monday night with the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor…a prize Carlin felt was the ONLY comedic award worth receiving.
“He would have been humbly grateful,” Jerry Hamza, Carlin’s longtime manager and best friend told The AP. “Also George, who throughout his career was perceived as an outsider or maverick, had a real desire to connect with other comedians. He loved being in that club.”
Comedians Jon Stewart, Lily Tomlin and Joan Rivers are lined up to perform at the awards ceremony.
It’s too bad George couldn’t be there physically to receive this honor. RIP Georgie.

Now that Courtney’s “Dirt” has been swept under the rug, Ms. Cox-Arquette is taking a second shot at sitcom success.
Courtney’s new role? A cougar in “Cougar Town”.
ABC has ordered a comedy pilot in which the former “Friends” star will play an attractive newly single 40-year-old mom with a 17-year-old son. It comes from “Scrubs” creator Bill Lawrence.
Mr. Lawrence thought Courtney would be PURRRRfect for the role because she is “comedically fearless”.
Well, when your career is hanging by a thread, sometimes you have to take some risks that may involve kissing your best friend on national television.
In all sincerity, I do hope this one works out for Courtney. Production will start sometime in January of 2009.

Comedian Sarah Silverman was heckled on stage during her UK stand-up debut in London. Fans, who had paid about $100 a ticket slow-hand clapped and shouted they wanted their money back after the star’s short 40-minute set. After the audience refused to leave, Silverman was forced to give a Q&A session as an encore after admitting she had no other material prepared. Unimpressed fans shouted ‘you’re over-hyped Sarah’ and ‘I’ve seen longer clips on YouTube’, before the star told the audience to ‘go home’ and the left the stage.
The Daily Telegraph’s Dominic Cavendish described the comic as ’skipping away in near-disgrace’ after the ‘excruciatingly embarrassing’ question and answer session.
Wow, “tough” crowd!

The Queen of Publicity has just been sued for lack of publicity! Yeah, ummm, I can’t even know what to say about this. Remember that movie National Lampoon’s Pledge This? Yeah, me neither. But, really…the point is Paris got paid $1 million to star in the movie. The movie made $1.5 million. Then, tally in production…and marketing. And, beer for the crew. You do the math.
According to a source, Paris didn’t come through after being paid $1 million to star in and promote the 2006 comedy. Per the lawsuit filed today in U.S. District Court in Miami, Hilton—who was also listed as an executive producer—owes $75,000 in damages for failing to provide “reasonable promotion and publicity” for the movie.
They want her to pay $75,000. Um, that’s pocket change in Paris’s world. Another slap on the wrist for the Hilton ho!

George Carlin died of heart failure at the age of 71. Carlin was known for making legal history by uttering these seven rude words: Shit, piss, fuck, cunt, cocksucker, motherfucker, tits. Wow. What a brave, brave man.
RIP George Carlin.

Ellen Degeneres is an Emmy winner. Again. This is the fourth consecutive win for the dancin’ talk show diva. Woohoo! In my opinion, Ellen is the BEST thing that has happened to daytime television. Period.
Ellen’s lady Portia DeRossi was on hand to plant a big congratulatory smooch on her soon-to-be wife.

It looks like a stint on “Dancing With The Stars” can indeed help your career. At least this holds true for Jennie Garth as she has now gotten herself a full-time job! You Go Girl!
According to a source, Jennie Garth will play the female lead on the CBS pilot “My Best Friend’s Girl.” The comedy centers on two best friends and co-owners of a biker shop whose relationship becomes complicated when one (Tim Peper) begins dating the ex-wife (Garth) of the other (Josh Cooke).
