Blue Ivy Carter is sitting pretty, and she’s not even six months old yet! I’m seriously jealous. She’s the daughter of a rapper-singer duo worth millions together. She’s already traveled to different countries with her mom Beyoncé. She became the youngest person ever to be featured on the Billboard charts at only hours old with Papa Jay-Z’s song “Glory.” And now she can call herself (when she’s old enough to actually talk, that is) a citizen of another country! Is that another record or something? Youngest person to ever be made a citizen of another country? Ehhh…I don’t know.
After discovering that Blue Ivy was named after a tree wrapped in blue ivy on their island, officials in Hvar, Croatia decided to make Baby Blue a honorary citizen of the town!
In fact, Major Pjerino Bebic of Croatia penned a letter to Bey and Jay saying how much they appreciate the promo Blue Ivy’s birth has brought to Hvar. The letter said,
The story of the origin of the name of your daughter has brought enormous media attention and therefore tourist promotion to the town and island of Hvar. Because of this, I have decided to confer on your daughter the status of honourary citizen of the town of Hvar.”
I don’t how I would feel about my daughter being seen as a living promotion for a town, but the gesture’s still nice. Oh, and side note to Beyoncé and Jay-Z: can we get a picture of Blue as she is now? I mean, I wasn’t expecting to see photos of her at the hospital, and fans, I’m sure, appreciated you sharing. I know I did. But I’m tired of seeing just her feet dangling under a blanket. Maybe for her half-birthday next week? Just a suggestion.
