It’s official, Prince William should now be referred to as the Duke of Cambridge. Why? Because the Queen said so. The Queen announced at 8AM this morning that Big Willy and his bride will have new titles.
Now that the wedding ceremony has concluded at Westminster Abbey, the royal couple will now be referred to as the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
In addition, they have been given the Scottish titles of Earl and Countess of Strathearn. And this may be because they met at St. Andrews University.
But that’s not all, they have a Northern Irish name too, which is Baron and Baroness Carrickfergus.
A dukedom is the highest rank in the British peerage.
Buckingham Palace released the following confirming, “The Queen has today been pleased to confer a Dukedom on Prince William of Wales. His titles will be Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron Carrickfergus. Prince William thus becomes His Royal Highness The Duke of Cambridge and Miss Catherine Middleton on marriage will become Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge.”
Sweet.
