Rumors swirl that Superman will not be romancing Lois Lane this time around.
Variety reports that Alice Eve, Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds) and Rosamund Pike are on the shortlist for the female lead in the new Superman film, opposite Henry Cavill.
Intriguingly, the role they are up for is not Lois Lane, which has sparked the usual frenzy of fan debate over possibilities. Among the character names thrown out there are Cat Grant and even Kara/Supergirl.
An earlier flurry of rumours suggested several actresses were being considered to play Lois Lane, but this latest report effectively rules all that out as nonsense. Among those alleged to be considered for Lois were Kristen Stewart, Mila Kunis, Olivia Wilde, Malin Ackerman, Jessica Biel, Dianna Agron and Rachel McAdams. Kristen’s agent told People : “There are a number of fabricated stories circulating. The fact is that she has not met on this film nor has she been approached for this film.”
Incidentally, if you were wondering who else was up for the Superman role, HeatVision says the other candidates were Matthew Goode, Armie Hammer, Matthew Bomer, Joe Manganiello and Colin O’Donoghue, with Goode the closest runner-up.
