Where was Bobby Brown when he heard that Whitney Houston died?

We heard the devastating news that Whitney Houston was found dead in a Los Angeles hotel room. So where was Whitney’s ex husband Bobby Brown when he heard the news?

For those of you in Memphis, Tennessee in town for the New Edition show, you will most likely see a crying and distressed Bobby Brown because he reportedly found out the news before he was set to take the stage with his group.

People magazine is reporting that after hearing the news, Brown immediately started calling friends and family. “He wanted to tell everyone about it before it hit the news. He didn’t want any of us to hear about it on television.”

As Brown spoke to family members, the shock of Houston’s sudden death turned to grief. “He could hardly get the words out when he called me,” says the relative. “He was sobbing, and by the end of the call, I was sobbing too. He’s beside himself right now.”

TMZ is reporting that

Bobby Brown is distraught and “in and out of crying fits” … after getting the news that Whitney Houston is dead — but his New Edition band mates are by his side trying to console him.

New Edition has a concert tonight in Mississippi — and believe it or not sources close to the group tell TMZ … not only will New Edition go on as scheduled, but as of now Bobby is also planning to perform.

We’re told Bobby is going to try to get through the entire show.

Bobby and Whitney had an infamously tumultuous 15 year marriage.

Brown has not yet publicly made a statement regarding Whitney’s death. I can’t even imagine the pain and the tears Whitney’s family and friends are going through. So heartbreaking.

Whitney Houston Dead at 48

Whitney Houston is dead at the age of 48. For real. A rep for the singer confirmed the news with the Associated Press so you know that this is not a hoax. I am in absolute shock.

I am hoping that this wasn’t what I think it was. CNN is reporting that Ray J is apparently the one who found Whitney at the Beverley Hilton Hotel – the venue of the Clive Davis party that was supposed to go down tonight.

We do not know any exact details as of yet, but we will keep you posted.

I can’t even know what to say right now. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Whitney’s daughter Bobbi Kristina (whose father is Bobby Brown, Whitney’s husband from 1992-2007).

Whitney’s voice will go down as one of the greatest in the world…in history. Legendary.

Madonna thinks MIA finger flip was “immature”

Madonna called in to On Air with Ryan Seacrest to chat about her Superbowl performance among other things including her upcoming single “Girls Gone Wild”. What we really wanted to know is what she thought about M.I.A. flipping her middle finger during a family event that aired on a national network. I mean, come on…it’s not like Madge would ever do such a thing. Right?

Let’s just say that Madge wasn’t thrilled. She told Seacrest, “I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it. I wasn’t happy about it. I understand it’s punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity it seemed negative. It’s such a teenager…irrelevant thing to do…there was such a feeling of love and unity there what was the point? It was just out of place.”

Hmmm. Isn’t this kind of like pot calling the kettle black? I love Madge and all but it’s not like Madge hasn’t done anything for shock value. Or is it okay to expect something like that from Madge and not her cohorts? Bitch, puhlease.

Anyhow…moving on…so while she rocked some gladiator motifs during her Superbowl performance, don’t expect her to wear those ensembles for her upcoming world tour. Madge explains, “Oh god no! I don’t want to repeat myself. I never do that! I am having auditions all next week. Then I’m going to shoot the video for ‘Girls Gone Wild’ after that, then I start rehearsals.”

As for those rumors that Britney will be teaming up with her on the upcoming single “Girls Gone Wild”? ”No, it’s just little ol’ me.”

So there you have it! Check out the full interview with Mr. Seacrest below.

Mary J Blige tore the house down at the Avalon last night!

Last night Mary J. Blige tore down the house at Avalon in Hollywood at the Belvedere Red pre-Grammy party! It was a special event collaboration to help fight for an AIDS free generation of newborns by 2015.

And you better believe some fabulous peeps from Hollywood attended the night’s soiree at a private party, while the performance was also Livestreamed for online viewers. And let me tell you, Mary J Blige was on point as she performed her hits “No More Drama” and “You Bring Me Joy” but it was a special tribute of Bono’s “One” that left the audience chanting for an encore at the end.

Of collaborating with Belvedere for the RED event Mary J Blige said, “I’m delighted to be supporting (Belvedere) RED in their fight against HIV & AIDS in Africa. It is one of the most devastating issues faced by millions in Africa and if we can raise awareness with this event and encourage people to buy (PRODUCT) RED, we’ll be one step closer to an HIV / AIDS free generation in 2015.”

Belvedere continues to uphold their commitment to fighting AIDS/HIV in Africa. On behalf of all Twitter users who signed the special edition (BELVEDERE) RED virtual bottle last night by tweeting #BELVERED, Belvedere will donate $1 for each signature to the Global Fund.

Nicki Minaj doesn’t know what a Santorum is

For the Spring Fashion issue, Paper magazine selected Nicki Minaj as their cover girl and they also sat down to talk reality TV, her new album and Minaj’s style idols with the eccentric pop star.

Check out some of the highlights from our friends at Paper magazine below:

ON HOW SHE HAS BEEN HANDLING THE WHIRLWIND OF FAME THAT FOUND HER THIS YEAR:

I have been working sooo much. Success came and now that somany eyes are on me, I feel I have to deliver. And it’s a business. No joke. I guess I am stressing more than I should be, and I think I am becoming more guarded.

ON SITTING NEXT TO ANNA WINTOUR DURING FASHION WEEK:

I was screaming out loud inside my head. Me sitting next to the Queen of Vogue! It was such a strange experience. I felt like I was dreaming. And I thought she would be snobby
or something. But she was so incredibly sweet to me.

ON HER STYLE ICONS:

Grace Jones definitely. So amazing. And Cyndi Lauper, I loved her right from when I was a little girl. And Janet Jackson of course. And Boy George. I always loved the way he dressed, and his music too.

ON HER NEW ALBUM:

The album is like a collage of all my emotions. I am not sticking to any particular style. I am doing what I feel without restrictions. So it’s very free and very me.

Adele Sings For Anderson Cooper for 60 Minutes Interview (VIDEOS)

Adele makes an appearance on 60 Minutes Overtime to interview with Anderson Cooper AND she even proves that even after her throat surgery her voice is better than ever.

Plus we get more of a glimpse of her personality and I must say Adele is one I’d love to hang around with on the daily. First of all, she has an amazingly cute little accent AND she likes to cuss!

As for all that talk about her more curvaceous body, she doesn’t give a rat’s ass what anyone thinks. Adele said, “I’ve never seen magazine covers or music videos and been like ‘I need to look like that to be a success.’ I don’t want to be some skinny mini with my tits out. I really don’t want to do it and I don’t want people confusing what it is that I’m about. I just stand there and sing. I don’t do stunts or anything. I’m just writing love songs. I’m not trying to be pop. I’m not trying to be jazz. I’m not trying to be anything. I’m just writing love songs and everyone loves a love song.” Yes, girl. Speak.on.it.

One of the highlights or should I say, THE highlight of the interview is when Adele sings a part of “Rolling In the Deep” a cappella to Anderson Cooper. I hope he realizes how lucky he is. Damn Silver Fox.

To see the full “60 Minutes” interview with Adele tune in on Sunday, Feb. 12 (7:00-8:00 PM, ET/PT on CBS) before the Grammys.

Jay Z and Kanye West Release “Ni**as In Paris” Video

Jay-Z and Kanye West definitely get cray in their new video for their hit song, “Ni**as in Paris.” The video is actually a live performance from Jay and ‘Ye’s last stop on their Watch the Throne Tour at the Staples Center in L.A. With a energized audience, flashing lights, and crazy audio and video effects, the visual will definitely “get the people going,” as Will Ferrell says in the dialogue portion of the song. The sample was taken from Ferrell’s ice-skating comedy Blades of Glory, co-starring Jon Heder. “No one knows what it means, but it’s provocative!” That’s the line that everybody shouts out the loudest at the club!
I was expecting an actual video to be shot in Paris.I guess that was out since Papa Jay is still doing performances, and taking care of  Baby Blue and wifey Beyoncé (she looks AMAZING for having just delivered a baby a month ago!). Either way, I’m hyped up over this video!

Check out “Ni**as In Paris” below!

Lady Gaga says quit sticking your fingers down your throat!

Lady Gaga made a surprise appearance at a young women’s conference hosted by a Los Angeles school and she spoke very candidly (as Gaga always does) at the open forum that was hosted by Maria Shriver.

During the conference Gaga was asked how she deals with body issues and the pressure she has on her being a Hollywood “it” girl.

The student said, “I struggle with body issues, and I know you’re so confident in the way you dress. And I am wondering how you deal with such issues.”

Gaga replied after a short silence saying, “I used to throw up all the time in high school. So I’m not that confident. And maybe it’s easier for me to talk about it now because I don’t do it anymore. I wanted to be a skinny little ballerina but I was a voluptuous little Italian girl whose dad had meatballs on the table every night. I used to come home and say, ‘Dad, why do you always give us this food? I need to be thin.’ And he’d say, ‘Eat your spaghetti.’”

Shriver then asked Gaga how she got over her eating issues to which Gaga answered, “It made my voice bad, so I had to stop. The acid on your vocal chords… it’s very bad. But for those of you who don’t sing, you maybe don’t have that excuse until it’s too late. It’s very dangerous. Every video I’m in, every magazine cover, they stretch you; they make you perfect. It’s not real life. It’s really hard, but you’ve got to talk to somebody about it.”

So what is her advice for young girls?

“I’m gonna say this about girls: The dieting wars have got to stop. Everyone just knock it off. Because at the end of the day, it’s affecting kids your age. And it’s making girls sick.” Preach it, sister.

Lady Gaga Announces Born This Way Ball Tour Dates 2012-2013

Lady Gaga has just announced the first few dates of her Born This Way ball tour for 2012. The eccentric superstar will be taking on 110 dates total! Now that is some hardcore touring and some big fat ching!

Madonna also recently announced her tour dates for promotion of her MDNA album. The difference is that Madge is charging a whopping $300 to see her perform live.

So with that being said:

Russell Brand doesn’t want Katy Perry’s money

So we all have had a bit of time to soak in the fact that Russell Brand and Katy Perry are getting a divorce. It’s done but now comes the dreaded paperwork and you know, for gold diggers, the fun part.

What I find interesting about Brand and Perry is that they didn’t sign a prenuptial agreement and with that being said, Brand could get a whopping TWENTY freakin’ million dollars. But get this…he doesn’t want it. Not a penny. Apparently the handful of nights burying his bearded mugshot into Perry’s chi-chis was enough for him.

TMZ is reporting that Russell’s lawyer

filed final divorce papers Tuesday … although the judge will make the divorce official on June 30, because there’s a 6 month waiting period.

Informed sources tell TMZ … Russell and Katy did NOT have a prenup. As a result, everything they earned during their 14-month marriage is community property — which means they’re each entitled to 50% of the pot.

Katy made $44 million between May, 2010 and May, 2011 — according to Forbes. The couple married in October, 2010, so Russell could have scored a fortune if he exercised his community property rights.

But Russell doesn’t want Katy’s money and is happy to walk away without a paycheck.

Let me just say that it is refreshing to see a divorce not get ugly. Or perhaps Russell just figures that once he releases his tell-all book that he’ll get his hefty paycheck that way?

At any rate, Brand…we salute you!

Nick Carter Did Not Attend Sister Leslie Carter’s Funeral

So why didn’t Backstreet Boy Nick Carter attend his sister Leslie Carter’s funeral? According to Carter, nobody in his family TOLD him when the funeral was and where it was taking place.

Instead on Saturday (the same evening of the funeral), Carter gave a concert in Philadelphia AND hosted a party at a resort in Atlantic City but it wasn’t because he didn’t want to go see his sis laid to rest.

Nick told The Insider, “I wanted to be at my sister’s funeral, but my family has always had a complicated dynamic. I love my family. I want to thank everyone for all of their compassion and support that I have received during this most difficult time. There are so many emotions for me surrounding the loss of my sister. I am trying to stay healthy, positive and focused.”

It is sad to hear this. If you didn’t see the House of Carters on E! back in 2006, the instability of the family was evident. There obviously is more to what meets the eye and it is heartbreaking to hear that the family couldn’t at least get together in peace for Leslie despite their “complicated dynamic”.

VIP EXCLUSIVE: K-Drew Talks Justin Timberlake, Adam Levine and “Free”

KDrew is a fiercely talented singer/songwriter/producer who instantly reminded me of Adam Levine and Justin Timberlake when I heard him sing. But, he does have his own style to bring to the industry. The guy recently put together his debut EP, “Free” and made it available as a free download. In addition to “Free”, KDrew will release SIX more self-produced EPs on the first of every month through the month of May! Saweet! Celebrity VIP Lounge sat down with KDrew to discuss his background, music, the Justin Timberlake comparisons and more.

DANITY (DD): So excited to chat with you KDrew and I know a lot of my fabulous VIP ladies will be thrilled to get to know you a little bit better.

KDREW: I’m excited as well and really appreciate the time!

DD: SO tell me a little bit about how you grew up, where you grew up and what inspired you to pursue a career in music?

KDREW: I grew up in Howell, NJ in a house surrounded by music. My dad DJ’d and was in a few bands. So growing up, music was pretty much all I knew besides sports. Career wise it was just the passion I had for music that made me wanna peruse a career in it. My dad always told me, “if you love what you do, you’ll never work a day in your life.”

DD: Who or what inspires you musically?

KDREW: What’s cool about the way I work is that I can be anywhere when inspiration hits and I can break out my laptop and just start working right then and there. A lot of times being on the road, I’ll get a coffee from starbucks and get all hyped up then I’ll just start working right in the shoppe. It’s funny because people around me are working on thesis papers or reading and I’m sitting there jamming out on my headphones. It’s a lot of fun.

DD: You have been a busy guy. While you hear of many peeps putting out a mix tape, you are putting out SEVEN. Why seven?

KDREW: Nowadays there’s so much content out there where it’s easy for your stuff to go unheard. People are putting out new music every single second. So I feel like putting that much material out there will at least keep the movement going. Plus my fans have been waiting very patiently for original releases. So they really deserve it!

DD: So not only do you write, record and produce, you also co-founded Indie Music Group, your very own label. First of all it is refreshing to see more talented individuals like you entering the music business rather than the manufactured studio artists. What is your favorite part of the industry, the behind the scenes or being front and center (performing)?

KDREW: It’s everything really. You sign up for all that stuff when you take on the roll that I’m taking on. I really love every aspect of what I do. If there was one thing tho it’d have to be making the music. It’s the root of what everything revolves around in the business. Without music there would be no music industry.

DD: Of all of the songs you have created, what is your favorite and why?

KDREW: I really don’t have a favorite. A lot of time and passion goes into each and every song. They’re like my children lol. So to pick a favorite is just way too hard!

DD: What was the last concert you attended?

KDREW: The last concert I attended was Chris Browns F.A.M.E tour. I really don’t have a ton of time to go to concerts but whenever I get a chance I try to catch one here and there.

DD: After the release of all of the mix tapes, what are your plans? Any touring in the near future?

KDREW: It’s definitely going to be touring. I also have a couple other tricks up my sleeve but everyone is just gonna have to wait and see what they are!

DD: What has been the biggest challenge for you thus far in your musical journey?

KDREW: It’s gotta be just doing everything yourself. IMG (Indie Music Group) has no help from any labels or anything of that nature. So every step we take is in the shoes that we made ourselves. Sometimes things don’t work out the way we plan and we could have been working on that particular thing for months. But as a team and company you have to be strong and continue to move forward.

DD: Many are comparing you to the likes of Justin Timberlake and Adam Levine, what do you have to bring to the industry that these guys haven’t already brought?

KDREW: I’m bringing music that comes solely from me. I don’t have any grammy winning producers or grammy winning engineers working on my music. It’s just me, my laptop and home studio. So hopefully I bring a little light to the industry for artists that are being held back because they don’t have someone pressing record or playing them a track. I hope they feel empowered to get up and go learn it all so they can be who they want to be!

Randy Travis Arrested for Public Intoxication (MUG SHOT)

Country singer Randy Travis was arrested this morning for public intoxication.

According to TMZ,

cops observed Randy sitting in a black car with no lights on just after midnight Monday. When they approached the vehicle, they couldn’t help but notice Randy reeked of booze.

The arresting officer says Randy tried to explain the fight with his girlfriend … but “Mr. Travis’ speech was slurred and I was beginning to have a hard time understanding what he was saying.”

Randy made an awkward stumbling exit from the vehicle — as most drunk people do, and that’s when the officer hooked him up and placed him under arrest for public intoxication.

Bam…just like that. I don’t understand why these celebrity fools get themselves liquored up and then decide they are going to go sit behind the wheel of a vehicle.

Isn’t that how it always happens? Geez dude, lay off the booze. It doesn’t solve problems man.

Since his release from jail, Travis issued the following statement, “I apologize for what resulted following an evening of celebrating the Super Bowl. I’m committed to being responsible and accountable, and apologize for my actions.”

I’m not sure what is worse the shiz eating smirk that needs to be wiped off his face or that curly mop top that needs a good dye job.

Superbowl Wrap-Up: Bacardi’s 150th Anniversary party with Lupe Fiasco, LMFAO, Gym Class Heroes PHOTOS

On February 4th, 2012, Rolling Stone magazine celebrated BACARDÍ’S 150th Anniversary. It was a star-studded event that had some major celebrities stopping by to party.

American rapper Lupe Fiasco and rock bands LMFAO, Cobra Starship and Gym Class Heroes performed at the event, while guests enjoyed a celebration that truly demonstrates why BACARDÍ has become synonymous with hosting world-renowned parties, with many high-profile attendees and high energy performances.

And of course, there was some boozing going on with guests sampling some pretty legendary BACARDI rum cocktails.

Other celebrities in attendance included: Ryan Phillippe, Minka Kelly, Gloria Estefan, Alex Rodriguez and more. Check out the photos we got from the event above.

I’m guessing there were a whole lot of party rockers getting their rock on at THAT party!

Shufflin’!
