Tyler Perry is fighting fire with compassion.
The movie mogul brought a real Christmas miracle to an 88-year-old great-grandmother of seven, who lost everything when her house in Coweta County – just southwest of Atlanta – burned to the ground, reports Atlanta’s WSB-TV.
The Atlanta-based filmmaker pledged to rent a house for Rosa Lee Ransby and her 4-year-old great-granddaughter for one year. Perry will also pay the utility bills, buy her furniture and build her a new home on the burned property.
The rental house is just doors down from Ransby’s house – her home of 40 years, from which she escaped with her great-granddaughter on Tuesday when it caught on fire.
Coweta County firefighters began collecting donations, and Ransby was in her temporary new home on Thursday, just 48 hours after the fire.
“It’s just good, you know. I didn’t think I had no friends, but I found out I got some,” Ransby said.
Tyler’s generosity impressed the local firefighters as well.
“It’s made my Christmas,” Coweta Fire Chief Todd Moore says. “I’ve been doing this a long time – seen a lot of bad things come and go – but this is special.”
