Either Charlize Theron tries too hard to be funny and clever or she’s downright cray cray. Don’t get me wrong, Charlize is one of THE most beautiful and talented actresses in the entertainment biz today but that doesn’t mean she isn’t a little coo coo. In a recent interview with Ellen DeGeneres, Theron talks about life with her new baby, whom she adopted. Now that is all sunshine and rainbows, but when she starts explaining that her two dogs (yes, as in furry, slobbery, I-lick-my-own-butt kind of creatures) help raise her kid with her, I felt like turning the channel. You thought Alicia Silverstone’s food to mouth “attached parenting” tactic was a little eccentric? Take a listen to Char!
ON HER DOGS FALLING IN LOVE WITH HER BABY:
Charlize: It was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever witnessed. From the moment this baby came into our home. Those two dogs have never been more in love. It’s the most beautiful thing I’ve ever witnessed.
Ellen: Wow
Charlize: People keep saying, oh you’re a single mom and I’m like actually I’m not. I got two boys (her dogs) helping me out. It’s incredible. This is Berkley, a terrier mutt and he’s actually the pacifier thief. He’s eyeing the pacifier (photo of dog and baby) He’ll just lay there with the pacifier in his mouth. Then the Pitt (bull) is beyond. The Pitt woke up with me for every feed, for every change, and whenever the baby would cry the Pitt would start crying.
Ellen: And that Pitt bull had gone through.. That was a horrible story. That was amazing that you saved that Pitt Bull’s life. Clearly it knows that and is helping you in any way it can.
Cahrlize: He’ll do anything for that baby.
ON THE ADOPTION PROCESS OF HER SON, JACKSON:
Ellen: Jackson is your son’s name and everyone thinks since you’re from South Africa, that he’s from South Africa but, he’s not.
Charlize: He’s American.
Ellen:.. And how old was he when you brought him home?
Charlize: Nine days.
Ellen: Nine days old. What’s that like to all the sudden to have a nine day old baby in your life?
Charlize: You know, it took me a while. The process, it took around two years. My Mom said the most beautiful thing. I’m going to cry. She said,…it took me nine months to fall in love with you were growing in my stomach. She’s like it took you two years to fall in love with this little baby. It really took two years of just waiting and then one day it’s finally there. It just feels exactly how it’s supposed to feel. I don’t know how to describe it. It just feels right.
