Dicaprio, possible Oscar contender?
Oscar season begins.
As Labor Day slowly creeps up on us, signaling the end of summer, it’s time to move into Hollywood’s favorite season…OSCAR MADNESS!! The May to August Summer movie season is all about huge popcorn blockbusters. Once September hits us, every studio starts pushing out their critically acclaimed art house films.
This Summer did give us two possible OSCAR contenders in Inception and The Kids Are All Right. Inception, which came out of the dream fevered mind of director Christopher Nolan, was another home run for Leonardo DiCaprio. Many critics felt it was both Leo and Nolan’s best work yet. After seeing the film, it’s hard to disagree. Inception stays with the viewer long after seeing it and it’s hard not to analyze your dreams after watching it.
The Kids Are All Right hasn’t been the box office hit like Inception, but it has found a nice little home in limited release around the USA. Annette Benning and Julianne Moore play the cutest middle aged lesbian couple. Their performances are so believable it will make anyone think twice about being against gay marriage. I hope these longtime OSCAR nominees, no victories, finally grab the gold. Can the academy just let them tie and share?
