You may or may not be familiar with Drake Bell, but if you’ve ever watched “Drake & Josh” on Nickelodeon, you know exactly who Drake Bell is. Yup, that one. The one that had Bieber’s hair before Bieber. And if you’re familiar with Drake, you probably already know that he’s a pretty talented musician. And by pretty talented, I mean dang talented- and certainly not in the way you’d expect from a one time Nickelodeon star.
If you don’t know what I’m talking about, I’m guessing you’ll soon find out. Why? Because Drake’s getting ready to release his latest EP, A Reminder Of You, on June 28th and you just might be surprised at his eclectic sound. Take a look at the new teaser video for his latest single “Terrific” to see and hear what I mean, after the jump!
It’s pretty safe to say that Drake Bell’s sound is surprisingly reminiscent of The Beatles, Elliot Smith and Rufus Wainwright. Of course, considering Drake learned to play guitar in 1998 from The Who’s legendary guitarist Roger Daltrey. Since then, Drake has released two successful albums and performed on sold out tours, in addition to his acting gig on “Drake & Josh” (among others).
The first track on the album, “Terrific”, is a prime example of his sound. According to Drake, “The Song is really about calling someone out on not being themselves- people growing up and trying to fit into different scenes, getting into different things that aren’t necessarily good for them or who they are.”
