Preacher’s Kid review
If you are looking for a movie that will make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside and want to go hug a stranger, the Preacher’s Kid is for you. Upon first glance this flick might look like a big fat religious flick that is trying to suck you into believing something you might not want to fall into. But I guarantee you, it isn’t starring Tom Cruise and it’s not Scientology-related. You’re safe.
So while you may or may not be a preacher’s kid yourself or just a kiddo raised in a church that went away and got buck wild, this movie is easy to relate to.
Surprisingly enough, Destiny’s Child reject Latoya Luckett still can sing and actually does a pretty damn good job of acting in this flick…so much so that I could see her landing another role in the future. Go, girl!
About Preacher’s Kid:
Family, faith and music: small-town girl Angie King leaves the first two behind to pursue a dream of singing stardom. LeToya Luckett of the original Destiny’s Child makes her movie breakthrough in this inspiring tale bursting with music (including performances by Luckett and co-star/R&B hitmaker Durrell “Tank” Babbs) and talent. Luckett plays Angie, the daughter of a stern but loving bishop, whose attraction to the hunky star (Tank) of a traveling gospel show takes her on the road…and into romance, heartbreak and the realization that happiness may lie in the home she left behind. Join her on a powerful coming-of-age journey.
