Emily Osment releases Fight or Flight

It’s Tuesday and you know what that means, right? New music! Among the list of new releases is none other than Fight or Flight, the debut album from Emily Osment. She may have gotten her start as an actress with a starring role in Hannah Montana and the Spy Kids movie sequels, but Emily has been making music for almost as long as she’s been acting. She even plays the guitar and managed to co-write all of the songs on Fight or Flight!

Details after the jump!

The album was produced by industry veteran Nellee Hooper, who has also worked with Gwen  Stefani and No Doubt, U2, Bjork, and Madonna and includes the singles “Lovesick” and “Let’s Be Friends.”

Fight or Flight is the perfect blend of Emily’s classic rock influences and state-of-the-art electropop.  Emily explains, “I don’t want to write songs that are just surface-deep.”

If you’re wondering about those “classic rock influences”, Emily’s favorites growing up included Led  Zeppelin, the Beatles, the Monkees, the Doors and Herman’s Hermits, as well as  modern groups like The Pixies and Massive Attack.

“I want to be in a world where  I’m making the kind of music I want to make, and that’s what I’m doing right  now,” she explains about the album. “I want to find a balance between Top 40 songs like ‘Lovesick’ and ‘Let’s Be Friends’ and more complex material like ‘Marisol’ and ‘You Get Me Through.’”

Emily even wrote “You Get Me Through” for her mother, whom she credits with giving her her love of music, and she assures fans that she’s “given 1000% to making this album” and that she “won’t settle for  mediocrity.”

Fight or Flight is  available in stores and online- and the iTunes version includes the exclusive bonus track “The Game (The Cycle) [acoustic]“  Be sure to check out Emily’s official website HERE for info and updates, and you can also follow her on Twitter and Facebook for all the latest updates!
