It looks like things on American Idol could be getting an injection of latin male this season if reports hold up. Sources are now saying that Latin pop singer Enrique Iglesias is definitely in the running for one of the three remaining seats on the judging table for American Idol.
Currently, only Mariah Carey has been inked (at $18 million a year) to judge this season, with Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban, Kanye West, and Adam Lambert still allegedly in the running. Randy Jackson is not returning to the table, but stepping aside to remain on the show as a mentor for the talent.
Having four judges would place American Idol under similar formats to The Voice and to America’s Got Talent, each of which has four judges. Enrique Iglesias has also received a montary offer, valued at around $4 million a year, which is similar to the offer that Keith Urban is allegedly receiving. Of course, no one from American Idol will comment on any of this, so I guess the entire world will have to see how negotiations during the next two weeks unfold with these pop stars.
I’m fine with only Mimi as a judge. God knows she has enough multiple personalities to count as more than one judge!
