EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEW: Adelitas Way’s Rick DeJesus

With their self-titled 2009 debut album, Adelitas Way broke into the mainstream with force. Then again, that’s kind of what happens when you have a single become a theme song for WWE Superstars. If you think that success went to anyone’s head, however, you’re wrong, because the band takes nothing for granted.

As they prepare for the release of their latest album, Home School Valedictorian, on June 7th the Las Vegas based Quintet are set to prove that success is just as sweet the second time around.

I recently had the chance to chat with Adelitas Way front-man, Rick DeJesus, who dishes on the new album, his inspiration, and what’s next…

STELLA: Your album comes out soon, on June 7th. How excited are you?

RICK: I’m excited, and anxious I just can’t wait for people to hear this record am extremely proud of the album we made, I’m confident that its gonna kick everyone’s ass.

STELLA: How does this album differ from your previous one?

RICK: It’s a better record. I like our first album but we came into our own on this record we established our own sound and I think we are separating ourselves from every rock band that’s out here, we are ready to make some noise.

STELLA: I think it’s awesome that you are previewing the entire album on iTunes, what made you decide to do that?

RICK: We just want people to hear what they are getting we are confident when they hear the sound of the record they will buy it, and it’s great to give your diehard fans who have been waiting a taste of what’s coming.

STELLA: How would you describe your music to those that aren’t familiar with it?

RICK: We have a little taste for everyone every song on our record is very meaningful we have the up-tempo in your face rockers but we also have the very musical songs on the record that aren’t straight in your face some songs that are very, very personal to me, I want people to be able to relate to the songs.

STELLA: Who would you say are some of your biggest musical influences?

RICK: I love music. I’m a music fan first, I love Metallica, STP, Shinedown, Soundgarden, Slipknot, I just love music.

STELLA: Is there a track on the album that you call a favorite, or one that you think fans will connect with most?

RICK: I would say Sick, and Alive.  Alive is gonna be a song that everyone can connect to, and it gives  a special feeling.

STELLA: What’s next?

RICK: Tour, tour, tour and more touring I wanna shake every fans hand that loves and supports music in the US.
