When you’re classically trained musician that has been interested in music before being able to walk or talk, “talented” is an understatement. Still, that’s just what pop newcomer Bera is- talented… and then some.
In 2010 Bera launched his Georgian Dream record label and began working on his first album. And, not only is he a talented musician, but as a lyricist he’s equally amazing. Unlike many, Bera wrote all of the songs on his upcoming debut album, all of which he says, “comes from something real.”
I recently had the chance to chat with Bera about his influences, starting his own record label, and meeting Johnny Depp. Check it out after the jump!
STELLA:Â I know you’ve been busy, working hard on your upcoming album, tell me a little about that. Have you had a chance to take it all in yet?
BERA: I was working with Rodney Jerkins and Rob Fusari, two of the music world’s most powerful producers backing my debut album. I think I almost have it.
STELLA: You have eclectic musical tastes and interests, how does your upcoming album reflect those? What can we expect?
BERA: I would divide my music into two parts: a more fun, club, up-tempo side; and the laid-back, loverboy, romantic side, which can make you dream…
STELLA: You’ve already worked with so many big names in the music industry, is there anyone you would like to work with but you haven’t yet?
BERA: You know there’s so many talented people in the music industry, I can’t work with all of them, but I’d say, I would love to work with Pharell Williams, Stargate, Timbaland is great, Polow da Don, Dr. Luke, Max Martin…
STELLA: What’s been your favorite part of the recording experience so far?
BERA: The whole process was unforgettable, but I would say that the 2 weeks in a studio in New York with Rob Fusari was like a paradise for me. The entire environment was excellent, the engineer, everybody, the whole team was great, we built a real friendship, Rob is an amazing person.
STELLA: What prompted you to start your own record label?
BERA: I had a chance to be with the right people at the right moment and I just didn’t let go of my opportunity.
STELLA: You were recently photographed with Johnny Depp, how do you two know each other?
BERA: We just met in an elevator at the hotel in LA and I was like “I think I know that dude”… he was so humble, I couldn’t imagine he was Johnny Depp. Then he invited me to have drinks, he’s a great person and one of my favorite actors.
STELLA: What’s next? Anything fans should be on the look-out for?
BERA: We’ll have new songs, new videos, more fun, big things to come in 2011 – we’re gonna “Light It Up”… Stay tuned…

I think it’s safe to say that you can add “down to earth” to the list of things that describe Bera.
