Having been on the music scene for over twenty-three years, Jane’s Addiction has become an alternative rock icon, and for good reason.
I hesitate to use phrases like “in their time” because in no way are these guys simply a part of rock history. Experienced? Influential? Pioneers? Yes, yes and hell yes, but Jane’s Addiction isn’t finished yet- not by a long shot. In fact, with their latest album, The Great Escape Artist, and upcoming world tour, Jane’s Addiction is paying homage to their past, while looking forward to their future- and taking fans along for the ride.
Let’s just say that when I had the opportunity to talk to Dave Navarro of Jane’s Addiction recently, it was a little surreal…. Read what Dave has to say about their latest album after the jump!
STELLA: What can we expect from your upcoming album The Great Escape Artist?
NAVARRO: You can expect a new direction from the band that we haven’t been in before but at the same time there are many threads and characteristics that are familiar in terms of where we used to come from.
STELLA: “End To The Lies” is a great lead in to the depths of the new album, when can we expect the next track?
NAVARRO: “IRRESISTBILE FORCE”, the first official single, is out now. Video is coming soon.
STELLA: Are there any charities Jane’s Addiction is interested in these days? Charities or causes that JA fans should be aware of?
NAVARRO: Jane’s Addiction has been involved in various charities throughout the years. It is important when you are put in this position to be able to help others.
A few include: MusiCares, Tony Hawk Foundation: Stand Up for Skate Parks, EMIFamily4Japan, Guitar Center On-Stage Program
The Great Escape Artist, which drops September 27th, 2011, features the band’s single “End To The Lies,” as well as their latest song, “Irresistible Force”- both of which are available now on iTunes.
