KSM is an all-girl ROCK group consisting of some young, yet very uber-talented girls. I introduce to you Shelby, Katie, Shae, Sophia and Kate! They are fierce. They are fashionable. AND…they are on a mission to rock your socks off. Danity Donnaly had the opportunity to chat it up with the girls of KSM. Check out the interview in its entirety after the jump.
Danity: So girls, how did you first become involved in music and what inspired you to pursue a career in the entertainment industry? It’s a tough biz to break into!
KSM: We’ve all been involved in music since we were kids and most of us have taken music lessons. Our passion for music is really what inspired us to pursue a career in this industry.
Danity: What or who inspired the concept of you five girls getting together?
KSM: All of us were individually looking for a band to be a part of. We found that a lot of the musicians we knew weren’t serious about it. At this same time, the PoGos teamed up with Walt Disney Records with the idea of creating an all girl band. We are what they found. We have become amazing friends and have grown into who you know as KSM.
Danity: You all have a fabulous talent that you bring into the group. But with five girls, how do you manage to keep things professional and non-drama free?
KSM: It helps that we all have a common goal which encourages us to let go of the petty things and push through when things are challenging.
Danity: I hear you’d already been out on tour with some pretty cool peeps. What has touring been like for you AND which artist did you have the most fun opening for on tour?
KSM: Tour has been awesome! We really enjoy getting to play in front of different audiences and at different venues. We recently finished our first summer tour with Demi Lovato and David Archuleta and we had so much fun!
Danity: Sweet! Now, every artist has a favorite song to perform. What song really gets you girls amped up and ready to rock the hizouse?
KSM: Right now we’ve been blasting “Walking on Snow” by Jordin Sparks to get ready before the show. We love the song!
Danity: Who are some of your musical influences?
KSM: No Doubt, Demi Lovato, Jonas Brothers, Paramore, Pat Benetar, The GoGos, Ingrid Michaelson, Alanis Morisette, Flyleaf.
Danity: What artist or group would be your dream collaboration?
Shae- Sick Puppies, Katie- Fefe Dobson, Shelby- Gwen Stefani, Kate- All Time Low , Sophia- Meg & Dia
Danity: Where do you see yourself as a group in five years?
KSM: Hopefully we’ll be headlining tours and selling out stadiums. That would be a dream.
Danity: What was it like for you to record the webisodes and would you ever consider a television show or an acting role in the future?
KSM: Filming our webisode series was awesome! It was definitely different having cameras around 24/7 but it’s great to show our fans what it’s really like on tour with us. We are open to anything in the future. You never know!
Danity: Any celebrity crushes you’d be willing to share? C’mon, I know you’ve got some.
