I should have grown up in Barbados about fifteen years ago. Let me tell you, there must be something in that water that with a few sips you are magically transformed into a fiercely-fabulous good looking human and blessed with the voice of an angel. It’s where Rihanna hails from. It’s where Jaicko calls his home. And you’ve probably heard of Vita Chambers. And well, if you haven’t heard of Shontelle Layne, you’re going to now.
A little background on the fabulous Shontelle:
Ms. Layne was a busy young girl growing up in Barbados. Not only was she an all-star athlete and a beauty, she had the intelligence to pursue whatever career she wanted. Yes, one of those girls who had it all. It was towards the end of her studies to be a lawyer that a music opportunity came to her that she couldn’t pass up. And even though she knew she’d disappoint her family and friends by giving up her studies for a record deal, it was also in her heart that she knew that she had to follow her dreams.
A couple red hot singles and a tour with big name stars like NKOTB, Akon and Beyonce later, Shontelle is set to take the world by storm with her new album No Gravity.
