To watch the Royal Wedding coverage this morning, especially the guest arrivals, you would have thought that Lady Gaga had a hand in all the outfits. Sure the dresses and morning coats were tailored and subdued, but those hats had all of us talking!
Princess Beatrice of York, daughter of Sarah “Fergie” Ferguson and Prince Andrew wins the prize for most WTF fascinator at the royal wedding. Subtlety is not her thing, clearly. Consider her—and fascinators in general—my new obsession. I already own two, relatively modest fascinators from Kentucky Derby parties and vintage fetes, but Mr. Phillip Treacy, designer of over 30 of the wedding party’s hats, certainly has me inspired to add more!

Beatrice’s sister, Princess Eugenie, is a little more understated, but not by much. After all, that dress is hard to compete with.
The fascinator Miriam Gonzalez Durantez (Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg’s wife) wore (along with her entire outfit) looked as though she had borrowed it straight from Dita Von Teese’s wardrobe. Vintage, eye popping, and gorgeous.
Victoria Beckham rocked a tiny pillbox-style hat over a sleek ponytail. Oh, and hubby David looked dashing, as usual.
British socialite, and close friend of Prince William,Tara Palmer-Tomkinson clearly was feeling blue when she got dressed this morning.
Zara Phillips’ goth look would work at a funeral too. Who knew being the only daughter of Princess Anne would get a girl so down?
Autumn Phillips, Zara’s sister-in law, dressed from head to toe in a gray lavender, and even her bag had ruffles.
Sophie, Countess of Wessex, does the more traditional flowers and feathers thing.
Sophie Winkleman (Lady Frederick Windsor) perched a fried-egg shaped chapeau on her noggin.
Mother of the bride, Carole Middleton dressed in robin’s egg blue, and had a glowing smile on her face the entire ceremony.
And, of course, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and the Queen wore their Friday best.
