This is always my favorite time of the year because I’m a blazer lover and would wear one everyday if I could. This season has some great new trends like hooded capes (no, not like superman capes) and faux-layered coats.
One of the reasons I love blazers, or any jacket for that matter, is because you could be wearing jeans and a t-shirt but as soon as you add a blazer it instantly gives you a “pulled together” look. For a bold look this fall wear a bright hued blazer with a chunky necklace or pair a flashy shirt (think glittery) with a classic black blazer. For an instant slimming effect, wear a blazer that is fitted with a wide collar and falls at your hips.
Capes, which are similar to ponchos, are all the rage this fall! They are great because they are comfortable, flattering, and stylish. My favorite capes this fall have ties for an adjustable cinched waist, lined with a pattern, and have a hood. The cinched waist is important for capes because it slims the waist and gives you shape to an otherwise shapeless overcoat.
I’ve always loved the layered look but sometimes it’s hard to get it just right so that it doesn’t make you look too bulky. The new faux-layered coats give you the look without all the extra fabric. One of my favorites is Attention’s white peacoat that has 3-quarter length sleeves layered with long sweater sleeves.
Will you be trying any of the new jacket trends this fall?
