In Hollywood, when the ratings get low, stunt casting abounds and the NBC TV show Smash is no different. After less than stellar reviews and ratings in its inaugural season, Smash is taking no chances with the next one. Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson has been signed to add some heat to the production to portray Veronica Moore, a star that will throw a curveball between Katharine McPhee and Megan Hilty’s characters. Executive producer Steven Spielberg added, ““First Dreamgirls, now Smash. I have no doubt Jennifer will continue to deliver even more inspiration to the audience responsible for giving us a second season on NBC.”
I finally watched this show and immediately I see Katharine McPhee’s character as the weakest link. Her singing career was/is a bust, and her acting is even worse, so why did they cast her in this in the first place? And don’t even get me started on Debra Messing’s involvement. As far as I am concerned, she is forever Grace Grace Grace! Besides, they should just kick McPheeher to the curb and let Jennifer and Megan duke it out to be the next Marilyn Monroe in the production.
The fact that Jennifer Hudson is black is of no importance!
