Jermaine Jackson is effing pissed off at Michael Jackson tribute promoters. Sure, the promoters are doing their damnedest to get an all star roster to honor the late King of Pop, but is it a good idea to book someone who had a problem with Michael’s personal woes?
Welp, KISS rocker Gene Simmons sure had an opinion of Michael and those pedophile allegations but get this, KISS was BOOKED to do the tribute show. Ummmm, awkward?
The band was invited to join: Xtina, Cee Lo Green and Smokey Robinson to pay tribute to Michael Jackson in Cardiff Wales in October.
But isn’t it pretty effing weird to have someone pay tribute to a star that they previously blasted Michael for his past pedophile accusations publicly? Jermaine Jackson thinks so.
Here’s what the promoters said in a statement: “Under the circumstances we fully agree that even though KISS is a band Michael admired, we have no choice but to rescind our invitation to them to appear in our tribute concert.”
Jermaine took to his Twitter to unleash his fury. He tweets, “I’m appalled as all fans (are) that Global Live booked an artist like KISS after all Gene Simmons had said about Michael. It doesn’t matter (that) KISS’ invitation is revoked. This mishandling reinforces my view that this promoter is getting it all wrong…It also saddens me that my mother is being used to promote this event. Does Global Live really need an 81yo (year old) woman to prop up its event? Stop. I hear you all. Global Live mishandled this booking in the same way it has misjudged the event’s timing and mood of the fan community.”
Ouch.
