Well, bitches…Jessica Simpson‘s The Price of Beauty ratings tanked.
So much for the hardcore promotion Papa Joe arranged for Jess’ small screen comeback. The Price of Beauty was a good concept, especially considering Jess needed something to defend her big blue mama jeans. But geez. She had Oprah. She was on Oprah. Oprah was on HER side. Can you imagine how Jess would have done without her Oprah appearance? Ummm, yeah.
According to UsMagazine.com, “Monday’s premiere attracted just 1 million viewers with only 487,000 people tuning in for the encore later in the night.” Ok so now while that doesn’t sound TOO incredibly bad. Consider this: According to the Los Angeles Times, “The show got beat by a rerun of NCIS on USA, a TruTV series called Operation Repo and History Channel’s Pawn Stars.”
Looking at these numbers even further…even Fantasia Barrino (American Idol alum) debuted her reality show with more viewers. Her show snatched up 2.3 million viewers.
Despite the saggy numbers, a rep for VH1 tries to be positive saying, “We’re very pleased with the show. A million-and-a-half viewers tuned in that night to see the first episode. We expect that audience to build even more.”
