And I effing love it.
Elizabeth Taylor was freakin’ legendary when she was living, but since she passed away, peeps have been paying tribute to her class and her fashion icon status quite frequently and rightfully so. In the W Magazine Heroes issue, Kate Winslet channels Elizabeth Taylor and looks effing chic doing so.
Check out what Winslet says about Liz below. Oh and Kate also talks about her thoughts on nude scenes.
Winslet is transformed into a Cleopatra-esque version of Liz Taylor for the cover of W. Famed photo Mario Testino took the shots for the issue and pulls off the photo shoot with the grace and chicness that Liz would have appreciated.
Of Taylor, Winslet told the mag, “There was a real fearlessness in her… Back then, there didn’t seem to be a rule book, and there was some expectation in terms of how glamourous a woman should look. There is sort of a coolness and aloofness to the way [Elizabeth Taylor] would look in posed photographs. In candid snapshots she was really quite soft, and she would really screw up her face. I do that as well.”
Kate shows that she also has that fearlessness in her on and off the screen. But it is those nude scenes that make Winslet a tad uncomfortable.
She explains, “I hate it! Listen make no mistake, I just get on it. I just go in and say ‘Oh f*ck’ let’s do it.’ and Boom. If you complain about it or procrastinate it’s not going to go away. Its a profoundly bizarre thing to do. As actors you talk about it all the time. You can literally be tangled in sheets, and you turn to the other actor and say ‘What the f*ck are we doing?’ Dear Mum, at work today I had so-and-so’s left nut sack pressed against my cheek. It’s sort of unethical if you think about it in those terms.”
