While many have compared her to Madge the Vadge and a spitting image of Xtina, you must admit Lady Gaga is a woman all her own. Who else can get away with wearing panties over pantyhose and tying a pleather bow in her hair and call it an ensemble? Yeah…that’s what I thought.
The wacky, yet cool Gaga is currently in London town getting set to film a music show for T4. While in London, Gaga has been enjoying every little bit of the city’s sights and has been especially busy on the promotional scene gearing up for her UK album release.
Just recently Lady Gaga spoke with a reporter from the BBC to dish fame, fashion and love (or lack thereof). Peep some of the highlights below.
ON HER UNIQUE MUSIC/FASHION INTEGRATION:
For me, fashion and the visuals, that’s like the full body of the work. What I do is performance art. It’s pop music that’s meant for the Louvre.
WHY YOU NEED TO SEE GAGA LIVE:
The performance is the ultimate Lady GaGa experience, for sure. But it’s not really complete without all the different elements.
I need people to have a memory of what it feels like to hear my song on the radio. I need them to know what my videos look like. They’re acquainted with the fashion I wear – Klaus Nomi, or whatever. Then they come to the show and it all comes together.
ON HER LOVE LIFE:
I don’t really date at all. My art is too important…I don’t know about love, so I write about sequins and parties and fame and how I wish that modern America and New York was more like the Andy Warhol era in the 70s. I write about nostalgia.
WHY THE ECLECTIC ENSEMBLES (i.e. underwear over leggings):
Listen, I’m a woman. Sometimes I don’t want to put underwear on and go on stage. I have these amazing fashion outfits, but they’re very intricate or very graphic, and very uncomfortable sometimes, depending on what train wreck of an idea I’ve got in my head.
But I always wear the underwear – because I know no matter how I feel, my fans deserve the panties.
Panties or not…Gaga’s UK fans are loving her just as much as her American fans, making her “Just Dance” single number one this week, beating out X-Factor’s Alexandra Burke. “It’s been a long running dream to have a big hit in the UK. I was in my apartment in Los Angeles getting ready to go to dance rehearsal when they called and told me, and I just cried,” Gaga told a source.
You go girl!
