Lily Allen may be an easy target for tabloid gossip bloggers and media critics due to her wild antics and her flap trapping, but you must not forget how she became popular. She is a singer too. For those of you who aren’t aware, Lily has a new album out February 10th called “It’s Not Me, It’s You” and the reviews are fabulous. Lily is one of those non-manufactured artists who has a talent for writing her own music AND lyrics. Thus…the reason why we love her. Her new album takes her bravery and talent one step further by featuring songs with lyrics about George W. Bush (“Fuck You”), drugs (“Everybody’s at It”), celebrity (“The Fear”), God (“Him”) and her father (“He Wasn’t There”).
Lily recently sat down with Spin magazine to dish on her new music, her love life, and her worst enemies (the tabloids). Read a few of the highlights of the interview below:
WHY HER EXES ARE NICE TO HER:
Guys are really nice when they’re breaking up with me because they don’t want to end up in a song. None of my songs are fictional, they’re all real.
WHY SHE LIKES OLDER MEN:
I tried seeing a 25-year-old a few weeks ago and it just wasn’t happening. It’s a father thing. Men who are emotionally immature and insecure, they just do my f***ing head in. But a 50-year-old would be over that.
WHO SHE’S CRUSHING ON:
I quite fancy Boris Johnson (mayor of London), even though he’s a Tory. He’s very funny and charming.
WHY AGE MATTERS:
It’s funny because my boyfriends have gone up in terms of age and how much money they make. Lester was 20 and had no money, Seb was 30 and had a bit more, Ed was 40 and had a bit more and Jay is pushing 50. That means the next one’s probably gonna be 60. I like them old… and rich.
ON HER PROBLEM WITH THE TABLOIDS:
Tabloids want me to be this young woman who loses it and falls into drink or drugs. I won’t do it. You know what, I could become a nun…. I wouldn’t do it for Jesus — I would do it to see tabloid gossip people have zero to write about. ‘She prays all fucking day — what are we going to do now?’
Gotta love this beotch! “It’s Not Me, It’s You” is due out February 10th. Pick.it.up. You will NOT be sorry. And for the full Spin interview, pick up a copy on newsstands now.
