Sad, sad news for the 5 Lopez Tonight fans out there. The late night TBS talk show has been axed. Canceled. Dunzo. Buh Bah.
Find out what TBS had to say about their decision.
It’s been two years of Lopez Tonight, but TBS decided it was time to cancel the party. The network released the following statement, “TBS has reached the difficult decision not to order a third season of Lopez Tonight. Thursday will be the final episode of the show. We are proud to have partnered with George Lopez, who is an immensely talented comedian and entertainer. TBS has valued its partnership with George and appreciates all of his work on behalf of the network, both on and off the air.”
So what made them cancel the late night show? Ratings, people. The network gave them two years to deliver, but unfortunately the second year of air time prompted a big fat viewership drop. The first season Lopez Tonight averaged 911,000 viewers, while the second season their viewership dropped to 543,000.
Conan seems to be pretty secure so far with an average of 1 million viewers in his 11:00 pm time slot.
RIP Lopez Tonight. We won’t will miss you.
