If you’re trying to prevent breakouts from happening or trying to find a solution for your breakouts one of the first places to look, that many people miss, is your makeup brushes. Makeup brushes over time will build up oils from your face and become the perfect place for bacteria to flourish.
If you use your makeup brushes regularly I would recommend washing them at least once a week. Also, if anyone besides yourself uses your makeup brushes you should wash them before applying to your face.
The best way to wash your brushes is to wet them and apply a small amount of your hair shampoo and swirl the brush in your palm. Then rinse the brush until the water runs clear and there’s no makeup residue. Note; always lay your brushes down flat on a towel to dry. NEVER stand them up vertically to dry or the water will settle and loosen the glue that’s holding the hairs in place. Happy washing!
