Mary J. Blige, an actress?
Mary J. Blige may hold the Queen of R&B title (unofficially, but it’s a given), but now she wants to be a well-acclaimed actress…or at least a respectable one.
And with that being said, she is taking acting lessons to make sure she is up to par with her abilities. You’ll never guess who she wants to make proud.
She made her acting debut in I Can Do Bad All By Myself and now she’s in Rock of Ages. She also will be playing Nina Simone in a biopic, where she is going to do her damnedest to master her craft. She says, “I’m trying to do everything – I have a dialect coach, acting coach, piano coach… everything. I’m just doing what I’m doing. The film thing is going to start happening more often because I’m trying to nail it, not just get an acting job because I’m a singer. I have a coach for every little thing I do. I want Queen Latifah to be proud of me… (and actress) Angela Bassett of course. I want to earn my acting kudos.”
Well we shall see. I can see Mary J. as rocking the acting scene but with the right part.
