Oscar-nominated actor from The Green Mile, Michael Clarke Duncan, has passed away after a two month bout treating an earlier heart attack. He was only 54 years old.
The 6-ft., 5-in., 300-plus pound actor was know for not only his large frame but his gentle smile and gracious demeanor. His most notable role was as death row inmate/healer John Coffey in The Green Mile, for which he was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor award. He also appeared in The Whole Nine Yards, Sin City, Daredevil, and several television shows, including Chuck and most recently The Finder. According to his fiance, Omarosa Manigault, he “never fully recovered” from the July 13 heart attack. Duncan spent over a month after the incident in recovery at an intensive care unit.
A representative for Manigault released a statement following this tragedy:
“Manigault is grateful for all of your prayers and asks for privacy at this time,” says the rep. “Celebrations of his life, both private and public, will be announced at a later date.”
Our condolences go out to Michael Clarke Duncan and his family at this time.
