If you’ve been wondering what Ming-Na has been doing since her ER days, then wonder no longer. The latest casting news has the actress playing a lead role in next season’s spin-off TV series to the Avengers movie franchise. S.H.I.E.L.D. will be produced by Joss Whedon and will feature Ming-Na in the role of Melinda May, described as a pilot and weapons expert with a tendency to whoop ass.
Fresh of the success of Avengers, ABC ordered a pilot for the series and enlisted Joss Whedon to helm the return of the show to television. Additionally, it has been announced that Clark Gregg is coming to the series as well. In the movie, his Agent Coulson was thought to be dead, but apparently he is still alive enough to get a nod for the show. It will be interesting to see who else they cast for this television show. Will they only hire completely new actors and actresses for the show or will some of the big screen heroes be making a turn or two for the small screen? I am leaning towards a huge NO on that, save for a cameo or two. But I would definitely not count out Samuel L. Jackson to get in on the television show. As a matter of fact, they ought to offer him a semi-regular gig on the show. I mean, how can you have S.H.I.E.L.D. without his character!
