Nicki Minaj, escalator drama
She may have been dressed to kill in her turquoise stilettos, hot pink lipstick and psychedelic patterned leggings, but Nicki Minaj said “oh no” when it came to riding an escalator at Saturday night’s National Basketball Players Association Gala in Los Angeles. Yes, the R&B star flat out refused to ride the escalator down a floor to get in on the red carpet photo action. So, what gives? Does Nicki just not “do” escalators?
The New York Post put in a call to her rep for the answer to that question, and so far no word. So who knows what the deal was.
Sources tell the Post, “There was a little drama… She had time before she was due to go onstage, but she couldn’t be persuaded. But the photographers and crews were desperate for her picture, so they all had to come upstairs and hustle backstage to get the shot… Nicki was polite and posed up.”
To her credit, Nicki went on to wow the crowd when she took the stage at the event, sponsored by Ciroc, a little after midnight.
I guess we all have our moments….
