Nikki Yanofsky’s ‘I Believe’ Tops Canada’s Billboard Hot 100

When I say , you are probably saying “who dat?” Well don’t feel bad if the name doesn’t ring a bell. This chick is just starting to make a name for herself and now that you’ve heard it, you may now never forget it. Yanofsky is the young but mature gal who belted out the Canadian national anthem at the Olympic opening ceremonies. Yep, that was her. More than anything, is just excited to finally be able to talk about her performance of the Canadian national anthem at the Olympic opening ceremonies. “All week we had rehearsals, and I couldn’t say what I was doing,” the 16-year-old said of her powerful rendition of “O Canada,” kept a secret until the big day. Nikki shared this with anchor David Muir in a recent segment from ABC World News, which also includes a brief look back at the young singer’s impressive career and recent success with “,” CTV’s Official Song for Vancouver 2010.

In addition to her 16th birthday, Nikki also recently celebrated her first #1 hit single as her version of “” topped the Billboard Canadian Hot 100 and iTunes Canada Top Songs chart. “” reached #1 within two weeks of release and is currently out-selling top artists such as Taylor Swift, The Black Eyed Peas and Ke$ha.

Nikki’s U.S. album debut will be out in late Spring (Decca). Produced by the legendary Phil Ramone and Jesse Harris (Grammy-winner for his work with Norah Jones), the album will showcase Yanofsky’s “purity across her multi-octave range” (NY Post) with music that includes standards by the Gershwins and Ellington, an original song by Feist, and Nikki’s writing collaborations with Harris, Ron Sexsmith and others.
