Oscars 2012: Red Carpet Style Stars

Ah Oscars, the culmination of Awards Season. All the celebs keep their best gowns and jewels hidden until the big night. What will be the trends this year? In the past we’ve seen pastels dominate the red carpet, sequins sparkle and, natch, millions of dollars in diamonds.

So who sparkled and who fell flat? Take a look below at my list of Style Stars for the Red Carpet Arrivals on Oscar Night 2012.

Michelle Williams: nominated for My Week with Marilyn, her Louis Vuitton dress looked red on camera (described as coral by Michelle herself), but the ruffles, brooch, all made this peplum gown perfection on her.

George Clooney and Stacy Kiebler

Talk about a gorgeous couple. She’s in a Marchesa gown (gold, bronze, one shoulder) She looked like a perfect female Oscar statue, maybe Georgie’s good luck charm? , Georgio Armani dressed George for the evening; he’s nominated for The Descendents.

Milla Jovovich in Elie Saab Couture. She’s just wrapped filming on Resident Evil and made a splash on the red carpet before presenting for the evening.

Octavia Spencer, nominated for The Help. Another white gown, Tadashi, gorgeous bead work, starburst accentuated her curves.

Jennifer Lopez, in Zuhair Murad and Lorraine Schwartz Jewels, presenting Costumes, Hair and Makeup. When I’m forty, I pray to God I have a body like J.Lo. Girlfriend has gone from Versace gowns to her hoo-ha to 2012, two babies later, and able to rock a low cut gown with sleeve cutouts with grace, class and just enough sex appeal. She was missing one hot accessory though, boyfriend Casper.

Jessica Chastain, in Alexander McQueen. She’s up for best supporting actress for The Help, but clearly a winner in this fabulous McQueen and $2 million Harry Winston jewels.

Zachary Quinto, perfect royal blue lapel on the jacket, glasses, slicked back hair. Very Mad Men, needs a scotch on the rocks as an accessory.  However, J.C. Chandor made a stunning replacement.

Viola Davis in Vera Wang. Such a gorgeous color, beautiful pleating, and natural hair. Perfect Lorainne Schwartz earrings.

Rose Byrne- this Vivienne Westwood dress photographed as a black, but was actually a midnight blue. Again keeping with the one-shoulder trend. Very slim cut, and velvet platform pumps.

Judd Apatow and Leslie Mann- Can this couple be any more fabulous? They collaborate together, they put their kids in their movies and Leslie wasn’t afraid to tell Ryan Seacrest that she may be holding it all night thanks to how tight her dress was. They’re perfect together, on the red carpet and off.
