If you were planning to attend this evening’s Radiohead concert in Toronto this evening, you might as well turn your happy ass around. The show has been cancelled after the concert stage collapsed, killing one and injuring at least three people.
Radiohead took to their Twitter to announce the concert cancellation saying, “Due to unforeseen circumstances tonight’s at downsview park tonight has been cancelled. Fans are advised not to make their way to the venue.”
According to Toronto EMS,
Calls came in to emergency crews at about 4 p.m. ET. One person was declared dead at the scene, one was transported to Sunnybrook Hospital in serious condition and two others were treated for minor injuries and released.CBC’s Maria Nunes was driving by the park when she noticed the commotion. From her vantage point. she could see five ambulances, two police cars and a firetruck.
Gates were supposed to open at 5 pm, but there were already peeps waiting and taking their seats to beat the 40,000-some people that were expected to show up to the sold out show.
From what we know, the weather was not a factor in the stage collapse.
So sad. Our thoughts are with the families who lost their loved one and to those who have been hospitalized.
