Laura Ziskin, producer of popular films like Pretty Woman and Spider-Man, died at age 61, entertainment newspaper Variety reported Monday.
Ziskin died Sunday at her home in Santa Monica, California.
She had suffered from breast cancer for seven years, although she remained to the last as a producer. She only recently dropped out of work on the fourth film in the Spider-Man saga, The Amazing Spider-Man.
Ziskin was responsible for hits like As Good as It Gets, Hero and To Die For.
D.O.A., with Dennis Quaid, and No Way Out, starring Kevin Costner, were among her first films, in the 1980s.
In 2002 she became the first woman to produce the Academy Awards ceremony alone, and she did it again five years later.
