Good Afternoon America!

If you are a fan of the ABC’s morning show, “Good Morning America,” yet you often miss it because you are a late sleeper (or you forget to DVR it), than you might be happy to learn that a new show, “Good Afternoon America” will premier as an afternoon version of the morning television show.  It’s set to run for nine weeks starting July 9th.

The brand new show replaces the 2 o’clock afternoon time slot that once resided with the cancelled talk show “The Revolution” (any ideas on what that show was?). Good Afternoon America will focus on pop culture, celebrities, and healthy and lifestyle news stories. Josh Elliott and Lara Spencer will host the show and use the same stage as their morning peeps.

Good Afternoon America is set up to keep ABC viewers until Katy Couric’s new show debuts in the fall.  Lara Spencer expresses her excitement to be on the team stating, “I am beyond excited and honored to be part of this new chapter for the ‘Good Morning America’ family…’Good Afternoon America’ gives us the opportunity to reach a different audience, and better yet, spend a little more time with our morning viewers who want to be part of the conversation and fun we plan on bringing to afternoon tv.”

As a personal fan of the ‘Good Morning America’ show (and yah, I think Josh is kind of cute), I am looking forward to this new afternoon installment.

Nicollette Sheridan to ABC: Show Me The Money!

Nicollette is not the one when it comes to her money and she is not going to let a little thing like a mistrial stand between her and possibly millions of dollars. Sheridan, who claims she was booted from ABC’s Desperate Housewives after a string of arguments (and a pimp slap) by creator Marc Cherry, will have her second chance at a check redemption when the case returns to a new court on September 10th.

ABC and Disney, which are jointly owned, asked the judge to dismiss a second case but were refused. The first case ended in a hung jury, with an 8 to 4 decision. Basically, Nicollette was one vote away from a check check check! Since she can practically smell a settlement on the horizon, Sheridan is pressing her luck for another trial, hoping the suits will back down and pay her handsomely.

I predict that Nicollette will be rolling in the deep, cash wise in a few months. No way in hell is ABC going to go through another costly trial and re-hash all the sordid details of the Desperate Housewives people. And to top it off, I predict that Sheridan will write a tell-all about this entire fiasco. Or better yet, she will make ABC pay her not to write one. Mark my words!

ABC’s Celebrity Wife Swap featuring Ted Haggard

Did you get a chance to watch ABC’s Celebrity Wife Swap last night?

Remember the original wife swap? I do. It wasn’t exactly the first show I would choose to watch, but it provided some great entertainment – especially while watching everyone squirm at the changes each new mom’s bring to the household. And some how, our own lives seem that much better. Isn’t that a nice feeling?

But, now we have Celebrity Wife Swap. And the brand new show premieres tonight, featuring Gayle Haggard, wife of (former) TV evangelist (you know the one, he got accused in 2006 of paying for sex…with a male masseuse…and using crystal meth), who will be swapping with wife of ever controversial actor Gary Busey.

So with that said, what do you take when you add religion, controversy, and television?

You have Celebrity Wife Swap, or at least the premiere episode that is. Gary Busey’s family is not into organized religion, so the conversations that go down for this episode, should be…well, interesting.

ABC provided viewers with an awesome sneak peak of the new show featuring Carnie Wilson and Tracey Gold trading places. And at the end of the episode, we’re all left with a wonderful, warm and cozy feeling inside that Celebrity lives are just as messed up as ours. Carnie Wilson is left shocked at the order of Tracey Gold’s house, and Tracey Gold can’t help but notice the absence of Carnie’s husband.

 

Aside from the controversy of celebrities switching lives, we get a peak into the dysfunction that inside of every celebrity relationship. So, who would you like to see exposed on reality television? Here’s my top couples I would love to see swapped with another:

 1) Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt

With as many kids as that couple has, you know that house has to be chaotic. And although neither couple needs their celebrity status boosted in either way, I’m sure all of us would be dying to see how the two actually relate on a day to day basis.

 2) Beyonce and Jay-Z

With Beyonce with a new baby on the way, and both of them being very popular in the music business, I can’t help but be curious about this couples dysfunctional moments. They seem so…happy. How weird is that?

 3) Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

I don’t know about you, but it’s the “cool” Hollywood couples I’m most interested in seeing under the spotlight. I mean really, come on, how many of us really care about a bunch of D-list celebrity lives? That’s what we have Dancing with the Stars for. We want to know the juice on the real celebrities we all know and love (or hate). So, with that said, let’s put Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes in the spotlight…see how there supposedly outstanding relationship fairs.

4) Ben Stiller & Christine Taylor

Okay, to be honest, I didn’t even know that this couple was even married. How weird is that? But, really, I think it’s too cool that they are together, and would love to see their relationship live and in action.

 5) Britney Spears and Jason Trawick

Okay, aside from the fact that we all sort of groaned at the news of Britney getting married (not judging you girl; just saying you don’t have the best history), I can’t help but wonder what it would be like for Britney Spears to be swapping with another wife, and what fresh, new dynamics would appear as part of this couple’s relationship.

ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” teams up with American Cancer Society

ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition make dreams come true for so many people who truly deserve it. I don’t know how many times I have balled my eyes out while watching that show. If you need a good cry, this show is the way to go because oh my gawd does it ever tug at the heartstrings. At their 9th season premiere party, several celebrities, high profile corporate brands and companies showed up for an exclusive event that took place at the historic Vibiana Cathedral in Downtown Los Angeles.

A whopping 600 people showed up to enjoy drinks, appetizers and dish out some dough for a silent auction that benefitted the American Cancer Society.

Watch Out Ugly Fans!

Naomi Campbell is in the hizouse! Ugly Betty producers were looking forward to a Naomi Campbell guest appearance earlier this season, however, due to the writer’s strike, her appearance on the show never happened. Instead, Ugly Betty will go out with a bang…with Naomi Campbell making her appearance on the finale.

It has not been revealed yet what role Naomi will play, but I’m guessing it will be an interesting one!  Cast members, you better be on your best behavior and watch out for flying cell phones!  Naomi is one unpredictable beotch!
