Freida Pinto Before She Became An Overnight Star.

Freida Pinto, aka Frito Chip Pinto Beans, is a name you may have only heard of up until a couple months ago. Freida became an overnight success story with her role in the Oscar-nominated film “Slumdog Millionaire”. But, every celebrity has their big break and for Freida, “Slumdog” was it.

So what was Frito Chip up to BEFORE “Slumdog”? Well apparently the lovely Freida worked as a model for TWO years before she met Danny Boyle who eventually cast her as Latika in “Slumdog”. Freida worked for various ad campaigns including De Beers diamonds, Skoda and Wrigley chewing gum. And, it certainly doesn’t surprise me as homegirl is gorgeous!

When Freida went to work on a travel show on the Asian satellite channel Zee, THAT is when Danny Boyle spotted her.

“Frieda was very excited about getting a break in Hollywood. She told me all about her big chance but then, I didn’t know – no one did – that it was going to be such a big hit with lots of awards and fame.”

And now…I am sure the movie offers will be rolling in for this young actress.

Paris Hilton To Get An Award?

Wednesday, January 21st, 2009

paris3

Let’s face it…Paris Hilton is NOT going to be winning any award for her acting “skills” anytime soon…one hot minute…let me rephrase that…Paris the Heiress won’t be receiving an Oscar, Golden Globe or any other prestigious recognition for her acting abilities (or lack thereof). Now, a Razzie? Oh ho ho ho…a Razzie? Definitely a possibility. She sucks. Hardcore. And, no I’m not referring to her action-packed sex tape (get your mind outta the gutter)…have you seen The Hottie & the Nottie? Good gawd. Don’t. Waste.of.time.

If THREE Razzie award nominations won’t convince you, then I don’t know what else to tell ya. The Razzie nominations were announced today and let me put it this way…Paris got FOUR. If she doesn’t win at least ONE, I will die. Paris was nominated for worst producer, worst actress and worst screen couple (with Joel David Moore) in The Hottie & The Nottie. Oh oh wait…I’m NOT done… she was nominated as worst actress for her role in Repo! The Genetic Opera.

I’m kinda thinking Paris needs to just stick to what she does best…flirting with boys, leading them on…and creating sex tapes.

Speaking of sex tapes, there IS a rumor that another DOES exist…but this time, it’s along the lines of “Taxi Cab Confessions” meets “One Night In Paris”. Why am I NOT surprised?

Kate Winslet Ain’t No Angelina!

Saturday, January 17th, 2009

kate7

She is one of the most talented actresses in the industry today. She’s brutally honest and speaks her mind when necessary. Kate Winslet freakin’ rocks. Since her big onscreen success with one of the most successful films in history (“Titanic”), Kate Winslet has since been nominated for FIVE Oscars but hasn’t yet won one. But there is no doubt in my mind that this year could definitely be THE year Kate will take home at least one golden statue for her roles in either the “Reader” or her role opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in “Revolutionary Road”. Ask David Hasselhoff or even Sharon Osbourne…the bitch has got talent! Her work speaks for itself…

WHY KATE IS PULLING AN “ANGELINA”:

Acting is great, I love it, but it’s bloody hard work, incredibly time-consuming and really challenging. Since my son was born, I’ve played a lot of very demanding parts, and you get to a certain point where you just need a break. I want to be a mum – not a mum who’s at work all the time.

HOW SHE MANAGES HER CAREER AND MOTHERHOOD:

It’s a lot to juggle: to be the wife that you want to be to your husband, to be the mother that you need to be to your kids – to do the school run every day and be there for all the crucial moments of their growing-up – and also to be able to do a job like acting, which demands so much of your emotional self, and to be able to give yourself to it wholeheartedly.

I think how it works for me, like for any working mother, is you just get really good at compartmentalizing. My kids will always be at the forefront of my brain anyway, and when I’m with them they are my absolute priority.

ON WORKING WITH HER HUBBY ON THE SET:

It was incredible to see Sam in action and watch how he worked with the other actors, not just me. He’s a marvelous teacher, and adapts himself around the needs of every actor, because we’re all different.

Both Leo and I are very quick, very, ‘Okay, tell me what you need – good idea, I’ve got it.’ But he was gentler with Kathy Bates (who plays a smaller part in the film), because she is a very gentle person and needs to be guided a little. She’s fairly close in age to Sam’s mother, and he became almost like a son to her. It was a lovely thing to see. He’s a wonderful director.

ON SAM AND WHETHER HE GETS JEALOUS OF HER ON-SCREEN SEXY TIME:

Of course not. I’m not a porn star. I’m not walking out there and having sex with other people for my job. He’s more concerned that I feel comfortable, and making sure I feel the love scene is justified.

I’ve done a lot of nudity in films and I feel very fortunate that, each time, the scene has been relevant and has actually enhanced the story. Sam has supported me in all of that, and has always felt the same way.

WHY SHE IS GLAD SHE ISN’T ANGELINA JOLIE:

Although I don’t know them, I do think about their situation. They’re like a walking soap opera, and the public wants to know what’s going to happen next. I didn’t choose this profession because I wanted to be famous. I come from a family of actors, who have often struggled, so I always thought I’d be lucky if I even got a job.

I’m grateful for my success because of the freedom it’s given me as an actress. The downside is how much more publicly available you become. I don’t want Mia or Joe to think being famous is about wearing beautiful dresses – if you’re on a red carpet and wearing a fabulous frock, it’s the result of years of hard graft.

Matilda Ledger Will Be Proud Of Her Papa.

Monday, January 12th, 2009

heath

Last night’s Golden Globes was filled with laughter and tears, but I must say when Heath Ledger won a Golden Globe for his role in “The Dark Knight”, the water works were a-flowin’…at least in my household they were.

So when Heath’s family found out that their son was the winner for Best Supporting Actor, where in the world were they? According to People.com, the Ledger’s found out the news before boarding a flight in their native Australia.

Heath’s mother Sally Bell told People.com exclusively, “There is a lot of emotion tied up in this and we have to deal with that emotion first before we can relax and enjoy the moment, if you know what I mean….It is such a fantastic and wonderful legacy for his daughter. Matilda will have so many people who will be able to speak to her about her father’s abilities and [the] respect he had in the industry. That is such a wonderful legacy to leave.”

And after a long battle over who should be entitled to Heath’s estate, little Matilda came out victorious…though I can imagine this award will mean A LOT more to her than Heath’s millions.

Sally continued, “At this stage she is only so young, but down the track she will have all these things. It will belong to her because she is part of him.”

And THAT is the way it should be!

The Big Stars Come Out For The Critic’s Choice Awards

Friday, January 9th, 2009

angelinaanne

Anne Hathaway and Angelina after Anne kicked Ange’s butt in the Best Actress category.

Last night was a night of high fashion, fabulousness, and surprises. The Critic’s Choice Awards was officially the season opener for awards of film. And as many of you know, to win a Critic’s Choice Award is often times an appetizer to the big Oscar protein shake and potatoes prize.

The big wigs were out in droves mingling and meshing with each other, but as expected, all eyes were on the PDA love birds Brangelina. And despite the fact that both Brad and Ange went home empty handed, the affection that went on between the rumored “married” couple was either nauseating or sweet, depending on the onlooker.

An inside witness told US Weekly that Jolie whispered to Pitt, “I miss you” even though they were sitting next to each other and even shared that at one point, Brad had his hand all the way up Angelina’s dress! Ummm, hello!!! Get a room you horny little teenage-wannabes!

The tear-jerker of the evening was the post-humus award win for Heath Ledger’s supporting role performance in “The Dark Knight”. Heath’s co-star Aaron Eckhart raved about Heath Ledger’s work in “The Dark Knight”. “I feel like Heath Ledger put in a beautiful performance, and it’s just amazing that fans and critics are recognizing that. It’s just tremendous.” And it was a fabulous performance indeed!

Here’s the official list of winners from last night’s Critic’s Choice Awards event:

Chris Brown Is The Greatest Or So Says Billboard.

chrisbrown

He’s got moves Usher should be jealous of. He’s got a girlfriend BFF who is foxy and a chart-topping songstress. He’s got 3 American Music Awards, 3 BET awards, 3 Billboard music awards, 6 Teen Choice awards, 2 MOBO awards, 2 MTV Video Music awards, 2 NAACP awards, 1 Nickelodeon Kid’s Choice awards, 1 Soul Train Music award, 1 World music award, 1 Ozone award and 1 TRL award, making for a total of 27 accolades. And with Grammy two nominations this year, the most desired award in the music industry could definitely complete his collection!

He’s Chris Brown. And he’s on fiah. This year was definitely HIS and Billboard has recognized Chris as this year’s TOP artist.

“I’ve had a good year but I still feel like a little insecure in those parts. I’m like, `There’s little ol’ me getting an award’ – that’s incredible,” Chris Brown told a source.

Modest much, Mr. Brown? Just admit it…you’re the shiznit and your shiz don’t stink!

Rounding out the TOP 5 artists for 2008 are:

2. Lil Wayne
3. Rihanna
4. Alicia Keys
