Alright TV Watchers, it’s that time of year again…Christmas specials! I know, I’m as excited as you are.
So, what do you watch as you are downing that spiked egg nog and singing really bad Christmas carols with your family and friends?
That’s where I come in. This is the guide to what you can watch on Christmas Morning, Afternoon, and Night.
So, aside from the usual over-played Holiday movies, we also have the usual Holiday themed specials rocking us around the Christmas tree.
For you early birds…
If your like me, you will probably plan on sleeping until noon on Christmas Day…but, there are those other people who do love their early morning Christmas awesome-ness. So, for you early crowd, here’s a few movies and tv specials you’ll want to catch…
A Christmas Story (TBS, All Day Long)
I can’t help but let this movie be the first on the list. TBS does this every…single…year. It plays the Christmas Story all day long. And if you want to see Santa kick the face little Ralphie for the millionth time after he tells him, “You’ll shoot your eye out kid!” then you will want to catch this favorite.
It starts bright and early (or late and late) on Christmas Eve at 8:00 pm and lasts until 8:00 pm Christmas Day. My suggestion? Make a contest between your family members to see who can get most of the lines from the movie down.
Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade (ABC, 12:00 – 2:00 PM PST or Check Your Local Listings)
I don’t know about you, but I love Parades. And it’s Disney, too! And you get to see one of my favorite singers (despite her weight gain, I still luv ya Christina) Christina Aguilera. I just hope she doesn’t sing Moves Like Jagger. Not quite one of my favorites. But that’s okay.
Plus, we get to see Mickey. How could we miss out on that?
For you afternoon-ers (like me)…
If you wake up at noon, you are probably more like me…and as you blink away the bright sunlight of the afternoon sun, here’s a few specials and holiday themed shows you will want to catch…
And aside from the usual holiday favorites of Home Alone (with the ever awesome MacCaulay – quick, everyone slap your face and scream. Whoo, that was fun, wasn’t it?), you may want to catch this particular classic…
The Muppet Christmas Carol (HUB Channel, Check Your Local Listings)
(Did you really think I was about to add the basketball game to this list? I think not).
Okay, no holiday is complete without a healthy dose of the muppets. And as we make our rounds for the holiday themed movies, you definitely want to add this one to your list. Nothing like a group of Muppet Characters playing the part of a classic we all know and love. Or at least know, right?
For you night owls…
We all know when the real television fun starts. It’s the evening specials…now after the egg nog has been drunk, the Christmas presents have been opened, and finally that realization of what you spent all that money for is beginning to come over you, it’s time to click on the television and escape into some of my personal favorite Christmas specials…
Dr. Suess’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas (ABC, 8:30 – 11 PM PST or Check Your Local Listings)
We all love the angry, greedy type, right? (Ha, I’m kidding). But, really this awesome special with the rockin’ music is something you shouldn’t miss this year…and just like someone once asked me, “Why does the Grinch stay green even after becoming nice?”
If you can answer that question, you’ll be on my gift list next year.
Alright TV Watchers! I hope you have an awesome holiday season…and don’t forget to set your DVR!
