VIP Exclusive: American Idol’s Pia Toscano interview

You guys all know how much I complained, bitched and moaned about Pia Toscano’s too-early Idol exit. It was a tantrum that lasted for weeks. But hey, I wasn’t the only one.

The amazingly gorgeous and humble American Idol alum Pia Toscano may have gotten a swift kick in the pants a tad too soon from American Idol season 10, but she didn’t seem phased. Sure there was disappointment. Gawd, I was crying and whining for days. Sure, there was sadness. I almost quit watching the rest of the season. I placed my bets on Pia in the beginning. But, it wasn’t that long after Pia made her unexpected exit from the Idol stage that the opportunities started rolling in. Surprisingly that big fat record deal with Interscope Records didn’t happen until much later.

I recently chatted it up with one of my favorite American Idol contestants ever and we discussed her American Idol exit, her new single “This Time” and her new album (how’s it gonna sound?). Oh. Yeah. I also asked her about Mark Ballas. Yep, I got the dirt.

Starkey Hearing Foundation gala 2011

Celebrity VIP Lounge was invited to attend the Starkey Hearing Foundation red carpet event and let me tell you, I feel honored to have done so. Considering I was the only blogger to cover the red carpet, being placed between People magazine and WENN photos, I felt small but blessed to have been able to be a part of something so big and so meaningful.

First off, let me share with you a few fun little tidbits about those involved with the foundation and the gala itself.

Did you know that Bill Clinton wears a hearing aid?

Did you know that Whoopi Goldberg is hard of hearing?

Did you know that Gary Busey is hard of hearing as a result of a motorcycle accident he endured back in 1988?

Nearly every celebrity that attended the Starkey Hearing event was there because they know someone who has been affected by hearing loss, they have personally been affected by hearing loss or they have been inspired by stories relating to the foundation and its charitable efforts. From television stars to movie stars, musicians, successful businesspersons and professional athletes, most present were thrilled to speak about the Foundation and how they became involved. (And let me tell you, the NFL players were more than happy to talk considering they WILL be working this year.)

On Sunday, July 24th, the Starkey Hearing Foundation, whose mission is to foster greater understanding among people through hearing, hosted its annual So The World May Hear gala at the St. Paul River Centre in St. Paul, MN. This is the 11th annual event and the gala raised the most money in the event’s history…a whopping $7.2 million!

The event honored President Bill Clinton, Doug Pitt, Randy Hogan and Marlee Matlin for their humanitarian efforts.

EXCLUSIVE: Cali Swag District Interview

You probably know them as the “Dougie Boys”, but trust me, they are more than just that. Cali Swag District, from Inglewood, California, has already made an impact on the music scene and they JUST released their debut album. The sad news is that they are one member short from when they first started. M-Bone, Cali Swag District’s Mante “M-Bone” Talbert, was shot to death on May 15th, 2011. And despite their tragic loss, the guys are moving forward and doing their damnedest to preserve M-Bone’s memory.

Danity Donnaly had the chance to chat with the guys from Cali Swag District about the loss of their friend, their response to M-Bone’s family and their debut album.

EXCLUSIVE: Joe Jonas’ Williamsburg performance, NOT booed, pelted with balls

On Wednesday night, PAPER Magazine presented their annual Sounds Like PAPER concert in celebration of their summer music issue at the HOUSE OF VANS with special performances by Joe Jonas and Swizz Beatz! And, it was a HOT one for BOTH performers despite NY Daily magazine’s grim report.

The NY Daily News is reporting that Joe Jonas’ solo debut at Williamsburg was basically unpleasant and a big fat fail saying that

The middle Jonas brother got a rough reception in Brooklyn’s hipster capital on Wednesday night when audience members at the Paper magazine party pelted him with mini-basketballs and greeted his performance with a mixture of derision and stony silence.

Pelted with balls and a nasty reception? Not exactly.

Executive Editor of Paper Magazine, Alexis Swerdloff told Celebrity VIP Lounge exclusively that “As someone who was standing in the middle of the crowd during the entire performance, I can say that yes, there were a few balls thrown onto the stage — but they were promotional balls that were being thrown around all night — and that Joe was hardly met with stony silence! Rabid fans lined up around the block hours before the performance and were screaming throughout. We wish, however, that Joe had used his newly sculpted mega-arms (which this hipster definitely noticed) to throw a ball back into the audience.”

Industry VIPs, friends and fans alike enjoyed the private concert by the newly minted solo star and mega-producer turned leading man. Joe performed his racy new single Love Slayer for his adoring fans and Swizz played a set of his iconic hits as well as tracks from his new album.

In other words, the night was a success and Jonas still has his balls intact.

CELEB SPOTTING EXCLUSIVE: Lindsay Lohan in Miami Beach for photo shoot

Freckles was spotted in Miami Beach this afternoon as she is set to shoot the cover of Plum Miami magazine’s July 2011 issue. Girlfriend loves her photo shoots so much I’m surprised she hasn’t switched her occupation permanently to modeling.

At any rate, the shoot is set to take place tomorrow and we’ll have some exclusives.

The “concept cover” was developed by Plum Network CEO, Jerry Powers, who will also be interviewing the starlet for the in-book exclusive. This is Lindsay’s first cover-shoot in the U.S. since she completed her latest rehabilitation treatments.

What we do know is that this issue of the mag will hit newsstands on June 15th, just TWO days before she turns herself in to authorities and begin serving her 120 day jail sentence (yes, at home).

For you Lilo obsessed peeps, stay tuned.

OneRepublic‘s Waking Up album is one that should indeed bring the band’s fans great joy and snag up a large number of new fans. While their debut album Dreaming Out Loud featured the hits Apologize and Stop and Stare, it may seem almost impossible for OneRepublic to mirror that success.
