George Clooney and President Barack Obama. Which one is truly the most powerful man on Earth?

“Obviously yesterday we made some news,” President Obama told $40,000-a-plate guests at a fundraiser at the home of George Clooney in Studio City, Calif., on Thursday. The event raised nearly $15 million, expected to be a record.

Mr. Obama’s statement supporting marriage equality for all couples fulfills a longstanding demand of a critical group of donors – the gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender community. On Monday, the president is scheduled to appear at a fundraiser in New York sponsored by gay and Latino supporters. On June 6, he heads back to Los Angeles for a LGBT gala, which organizers say quickly exceeded its 700-person limit after the president’s announcement.

Gay activists are prominent players in the Obama 2012 campaign, including finance director Rufus Gifford, Democratic National Committee treasurer Andrew Tobias, and White House social secretary Jeremy Bernard. In addition, the president has a designated outreach team to the LGBT community.

George Clooney To Host President Obama

George Clooney will host a 150-person, $40,000-a-head fundraiser at his home in support of President Obama’s reelection campaign.

“I’m proud to do whatever I can to support the President,” Clooney said. “As long as no one asks me to sing.”

he event will take place at Clooney’s Los Angeles residence, with proceeds going to the Obama Victory Fund, a committee which raises funds for Obama for America, the Democratic National Committee and state Democratic Parties. If it sells out, the night could rack up approximately $6 million.

George Clooney Arrested!

Congratulations George Clooney! He was arrested! Now before you start freaking out thinking that maybe Clooney got all gooney on us, he got arrested for a good reason and because he wanted to. Granted, getting arrested isn’t anything to brag about (unless you are DMX and that’s all you know) but when it’s as a result of a cause close to your heart, then hey. Georgie was arrested outside the Sundanese embassy in Washington WHILE protesting alongside his father journalist Nick Clooney.

He apparently had announced his protest in advance and his goal was pretty much to get cuffed.

The Guardian reports,

Joined by his father, journalist Nick Clooney, US Representative Jim Moran of Virginia and NAACP president Ben Jealous, Clooney blocked the entrance to the Sudanese embassy. Clooney and the others were given three orders to disperse by the police and refused to do so.

With his hands cuffed behind his back in white zip-ties, Clooney addressed the plight of “innocent children” in Sudan, telling the media scrum: “Stop raping them and stop starving them, that’s all that we ask.” As he was led into a police van an onlooker shouted, “Thank you, George!”

That sounds like a scene straight out of a movie!

George has long been an advocate on behalf of the Sudanese, calling on the United States to put some pressure on the Chinese to open up their southern region for relief efforts.

He has since bailed himself out of the clinker.

Martin Sheen commanded the stage with his impassioned portrayal of an attorney arguing for gay-marriage rights; Jane Lynch inspired instant response as a vehement same-sex marriage opponent; Brad Pitt dazzled as a judge.

It was all part of the star-studded West Coast premiere of “8,” a play about the 2010 federal court fight against Proposition 8, the gay-marriage ban that California voters approved in 2008.

Ah Oscars, the culmination of Awards Season. All the celebs keep their best gowns and jewels hidden until the big night. What will be the trends this year? In the past we’ve seen pastels dominate the red carpet, sequins sparkle and, natch, millions of dollars in diamonds.

And with a blink of an eye Elisabetta Canalis and Mehcad Brooks have split. It is a break up that isn’t exactly surprising considering Canalis hooked up with the True Blood star a la rebound after an unsuccessful attempt at taming the seemingly forever Playboy George Clooney.

George Clooney angry at New York cops for using mace on protesters

Don’t mess with George Clooney when he’s in a huff, especially when mace is involved. Apparently, the New York Police Department has Clooney’s panties twisted hardcore, but for a good reason. Clooney is a tad ticked that the cops are using mace on protesters who are protesting at a rally peacefully.

Elisabetta Canalis talks George Clooney breakup

Sure Elisabetta Canalis is a model and now a DWTS contestant, but she will always be known as one of George Clooney’s girlfriends. And let’s face it, she has to be upset that she wasn’t able to get the lifelong playboy to commit to a possible husband-wife situation. She was pretty damn close, but not enough to get Clooney to pop the question.

This may have been the last happy photo we have of George Clooney and Elisabetta Canalis together. And man, she sure as hell doesn’t look too happy. It’s like she knows this is her final minute of her fifteen minutes of fame. Tear.

I am hearing that George has given Elisabeth a swift kick in the pants and out the door. Sad for her. But, good grief, it is about time. Georgie Porgie has been dating the model since July and damn, that is just too long of a relationship with the Cloon-ster. Don’t ya think?
