Kate Winslet Loves Her Naked Self!
Wednesday, April 29th, 2009Kate Winslet is one of the most famous actresses in the world, however Kate is also one of the most outspoken actresses as well. Ask her a question and home girl will not beat around the bush…that’s our kind of girl! In the June issue of Marie Claire’s UK magazine, Kate dishes on life growing up as a chubby kid, aging and losing her first love. Check out some of the highlights of the interview below.
ON GETTING OLD AND WRINKLY:
I don’t mind the way I’m ageing…. I think I look my age, and that’s fine. I don’t think I look younger than 33 and I don’t think I look particularly older than 33. I think I’m sort of holding it together.
ON BEING HER “HEAVIER” IN HER EARLY CAREER:
Things happened in quick succession between the ages of 19 and 22. No wonder I blew up like a balloon. Remember those days? I think it was the Golden Globe year for Titanic, and I was on a red carpet and somebody showed me a picture and I was like, “Fuck, I was enormous.” I don’t particularly remember sitting at home crying and eating endless packets of HobNobs. I don’t remember doing that at all. Honestly, I think it was a stress thing or something. I don’t know.
ON LOSING HER FIRST LOVE:
It’s just awful. And I am the age now that he was when he died, so it’s a big shock. If you lose somebody like that, you never really get over it; you just learn to manage it and live with it. I’m not particularly religious or spiritual, but I do feel him around a little bit, going, ‘You’re all right. Don’t worry.’ Which is amazing.
ON HER NAKEDNESS IN “THE READER”:
I do think it’s important for young women to know that magazine covers are retouched. People don’t really look like that. In films I might look glamorous, but I’ve been in hair and make-up for two hours; someone’s been lighting a scene for three hours. With the nudity in The Reader, for example, even I was like, “Damn, I look good.” And that was the lighting – it was a bit of body make-up. I don’t believe in pretending those things don’t go on.
ON CRAVING THAT OSCAR WIN:
There’s nothing bloody wrong with wanting it at all. And anyone who says, “Oh, I don’t know, oh, I’m on the fence…” it’s absolute crap. Of course they want it, deep down. Of course they do.
Pick up the Marie Claire UK June issue on stands tomorrow!
Gwyneth Paltrow Doesn’t Care Too Much About Oscar
Sunday, March 1st, 2009Obviously. While most of the Oscar winners have their golden statues encased or perched alongside their bed, Gwyneth Paltrowdoesn’t even know where her Best Actress Oscar statue is. Wow, that’s a far cry from this year’s winner Kate Winslet! Kate be sleeping with that shiznit, putting diapers on it and strolling it around in a baby stroller! Perhaps Gwynnie learned her carelessness from her multiple Grammy-award winning husband Chris Martin?
Big G told Extra, “Chris sort of hides his Grammys. I don’t even know where his Grammys are. My Oscar is kind of hidden, too. We haven’t built a display case or anything.”
So does this mean we can officially ban Gwyneth from winning any more Oscars? Homegirl seems unappreciative and proud of it!

Kate Winslet Just Can’t Get Enough Of Oscar
Wednesday, February 25th, 2009After being nominated five times, Kate Winsletfinally won her Oscar. But, is Kate a little bit obsessed with her golden statue? Since Kate won the Oscar for Best Lead Actress, her and her little gold man have been inseparable. From awards parties to Oprah, that little man has already racked up some frequent flier miles.
Kate told Oprah, “I keep looking at him and going, “Oooh wow”. Looking at every little piece – very nice little bottom. It really is an outer body experience – you just think, “This can’t be happening” she said of hearing her name called out as the winner. I felt for sure this was going to be Meryl Streep’s. I honestly did not think for one second that it was going to be me.”
You know, I am very happy that Kate’s happy that she finally won an Oscar and I see no problem with her toting around her award for a couple weeks. If she is pushing Oscar around in a stroller and buckling it up in a car seat a few months from now, I might be a tad concerned.
