Ha! As if that’s ever going to happen!
Now that I’ve got your attention, let me go on and you will soon see why Oprah continues to be the richest woman in the field of entertainment. Fresh from topping the Forbes list again as Hollywood’s most lucrative woman, now comes news that Winfrey has reached a deal with producer/writer/actor Tyler Perry to deliver two new scripted series to her OWN network sometime around mid-2013.
Under terms of the deal, Perry’s production company will produce, write and direct these shows in what will be the network’s first attempts at scripted television. Oprah Winfrey commented on the news…
“I have been looking forward to the day when we would be in the position to enter the world of scripted television. That day has come. “We are all energized by the opportunity to collaborate with Tyler who has a proven track record for producing highly successful cable series.”
Now I certainly am not the biggest fan of Tyler Perry’s. I, frankly, find his writing/acting/directing absolute crap, but hey, who cares what I think? He creates fodder that people buy and watch, so this looks like a good move for OWN. And if all else fails, Oprah can always snatch up Bobbi Kristina and have a camera crew follow her around for a reality show. That’s guaranteed gold right there. And if anyone reads this and I see Bobbi Kris on a reality show of her own any time soon….
