Zooey Deschanel may be pulling a Hannah Montana on us. Well, sort of. In her new television series, Deschanel will star in Fox’s “New Girl” as a newly single woman who moves in with three guys wanting to meet her friends. And get this, Deschanel’s character sings whenever she becomes overwhelmed. And yes as you can imagine, she gets overwhelmed quite often.
Of the song singing Deschanel said, “It’s just a part of how she expresses herself. They’re songlets — they come spontaneously” to the character. The songs she sings are written into the script.” The show will premiere on FOX on September 20th.
And that is not all from Deschanel musically. She said she and her She & Him bandmate M. Ward will be putting out a Christmas album this year. Zooey tweeted, “Exciting news! She And Him will be releasing our first holiday record later this year! Been working on it a while! I’m super pumped about it!”
And apparently American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson is damn excited for a holiday album from the duo. Clarkson said, “Let me just say right now how freakin’ excited I am about a holiday record from She And Him.”
